It may not be the best weather but that hasn't stopped the fun in the holiday club. this week the children have enjoyed baking and decorating biscuits!

The children enjoyed their trip to Foxdenton Park. This is what summer holidays were made for, spending time with friends, having fun, and ice cream!!

The holiday club are busy painting this morning. They are decorating stones ready for their trip to the park later this week.

The end-of-year inter-house rounders and football matches proved very competitive. During the day the children showed great team spirit and support for each other. The winning house was Elk for football and Fox won the rounders. Well done to all the children who took part!

Well done to our Year 6 children who have all passed the Key Stage 2 SATs. A fantastic achievement. We are very proud of you all!

This week our Year 6 children have enjoyed taking part in Science Day. They had lots of fun experimenting and investigating. Lovely memories to take with them!

As an end-of-primary school treat, we took our Year 6 children on a trip to Towers. The children had an amazing time and it was wonderful to see them spending time with their friends before they go their separate ways in September. We are really going to miss this incredible group of children!

The Year 2 children really enjoyed their trip to . They were a credit to the school and came back to school with lots of adventures to talk about!

Last week all the junior children had a wonderful trip to St Anne's Beach, The weather was amazing and the children enjoyed making sandcastles, playing beach games burying each other in the sand, and eating ice cream. A perfect end to the school year!

Last week our junior children performed 'The Umpire Strikes Back' for their end-of-year production. It was fabulous to watch the children blowing the audience away with their acting, dancing, and singing skills!

In June our Year 5 and 6 children spent three days exploring York and Whitby. They visited lots of places including , a chocolate factory, the Harry Potter shop, and The National Railway Museum in York. They had a lovely time and came back with lots of stories to tell!

We had a lovely time celebrating the children's achievements over the past 12 months on Monday during our annual Celebration assembly. The children in Elk were delighted with the news that they had won the winning house competition and were off to Pizza Hut for lunch on Tuesday. During the assembly, we had to say goodbye to our fabulous Year 6 children but wish them lots of luck at their new schools in September!

Our Year 5 and 6 children had a fabulous experience at a local science day this week. The children got to work in the science labs and carry out experiments. Well done to the children for once again being great ambassadors for The Chadderton.

This week our Junior children took part in the ISA North athletics tournament in Manchester.
The children competed in high, jump, long, jump cricket and tennis ball throw as well as the track events.
All the children tried their very best in each event and once again made me proud to be their headteacher. Well done to all those who took part!

In outdoor learning, Reception and year one enjoyed planting lots of bedding plants in pots and hanging baskets around the school in an effort to attract lots of bees.

This week in Little Gems 💎 we have enjoyed making Captain America shields and Batman masks as part of our Superhero theme.

In English, Year 2 have been exploring their new text Toys in Space by Mini Grey. They identified the 4 different sentence types in the story: statements, questions, exclamations, and commands. They got into roles as the characters and invented some sentences that the characters might have said using the 4 sentence types. They worked collaboratively to write their sentences around a picture from the book.

After a stressful week of SAT's our year 6 children have been enjoying their maths session. This week they have been completing problem-solving puzzles.

In the STEM club last week. The children were challenged to build a shelter with string and 10 bamboo sticks. Lots of teamwork and resilience.

Our Year 3 and 4 children are having a fabulous time on their residential trip to Winmarleigh Hall. We are looking forward to hearing about their adventures when they return to school next week.

Year 1 at The Chadderton are really enjoying their math's lessons. They have been recapping and embedding all of the new mathematical techniques we have been covering since Easter. This wee we have been learning all about arrays, grouping and doubling.

Little Gems💎 have become animal rescuers this morning! They were given the task of freeing the animals from the ice using different tools!🧊🔨

Our young netballers were fantastic at ISA netball competition last week.

Year 4 have all been selected to have their writing published in. Young Writers book called The Incredible Diary of.... We cannot wait to see their work published and in our school library!!

In PP1 English last week we had objects in our magic hat that the children had to feel and taste before describing the items using adjectives. We then compiled sentences around the adjectives used.

On Tuesday Reception were visited by the Evil Pea. This time he came into our classroom and trapped all the fruits and vegetables even our hero supertato. We had to work together to free the vegetables from the traps.

Little Gems have been playing in our water tray, exploring different textures of weetabix, cornflakes and icing & identifying the sea animals they found🐟🐬🐙

This week the year 6 children have been completing a fraction escape room as part of their math's. They were challenged to solve fraction problems in a set time to complete the escape room.

Little gems have gone on an Animal hunt today! They have walked through the school to find different animals and then used stickers to mark that they have found them! Well done Little Gems!

Our year 6 children have become taxonomists in Science and have been learning how to classify and sort animals. At The Chadderton we pride ourselves on our broad balanced curriculum that gives the children exciting opportunities each and every day.

Today, in art, pre prep 1 looked at sculptures made of glass metal and clay. They were challenged to make a hedgehog out of clay.
