☀️ And just like that, another wonderful term has come to an end! ☀️

As we finish for the summer holidays, I want to say a huge thank you to all of my amazing families for your continued support, trust, and kindness throughout the year. It has been such a privilege to care for your gorgeous children and watch them grow in confidence, learn new skills, and create so many happy memories.

I truly feel so lucky to do a job that I absolutely love. Being a childminder is so much more than a job, it's a privilege to be part of your children's early years, and I cherish every smile, cuddle, milestone, and adventure we share together.

To my wonderful little ones, thank you for filling my days with laughter, fun, and endless joy. You make every day so special, and I'm so proud of each and every one of you.

Wishing you all a fantastic summer filled with love, laughter, adventures, and precious family time. Stay safe, have lots of fun, and make beautiful memories together.

Thank you again for letting me be part of your children's journey. Have the best summer, and I can't wait to see all of their cheeky faces again in September! 💛☀️

💛Childminder Appreciation Week
11th - 15th May💛

Being a childminder is more than a job it’s opening my home and my heart every day 🏡💕

From morning cuddles and messy play, to school runs, tears, laughter, and those magical little milestones 🌈✨
I wear many hats, teacher, comforter, storyteller, chef, cleaner, nurse & biggest cheerleader 🧸💪

Some days are exhausting, some days are chaotic… but every smile, cuddle, and “look what I did!” reminds me exactly why I love what I do 💕

To all my fellow childminders, you are appreciated more than you know 💛

👏👌🏼🤯

Today I’m furious. And I’m speaking up.

A nursery chain, Nurseries, has publicly posted reasons why parents should choose a nursery over a childminder. Not alongside. Not as one option. But instead of. And their reasoning? It’s everything I’ve been speaking about for the past two days.

They claim that higher numbers mean more social opportunities and access to diversity.
But childminders take children out into the real world. We visit parks, museums, concerts, shops, nature reserves. We meet people of all ages, backgrounds, and cultures, not just peers in one noisy room.

They say bigger groups increase learning opportunities.
But research shows that noise can impact a child’s ability to learn, regulate, and feel safe. Some children thrive in busy settings — absolutely. But many don’t. Many need quiet. Connection. Space to retreat and rejoin. That’s what we offer.

They say childminders can’t prepare children for school.
But let’s pause. These are very young children. Should we be preparing them for school — or for life? For toileting, dressing, eating, playing, wondering, imagining, problem-solving, relating. All of which we do, every single day, through play.

We don’t just prepare children for school.
We prepare them for being themselves.

So Nurseries — shame on you.
Not for celebrating your own model. But for diminishing ours.

Childminding is not second best.
It’s relational, responsive, rooted in real life.
And for many children — it’s exactly what they need.

Today I’m proudly celebrating 3 years of Dewdrops Childminding!
Four years of nurturing tiny humans, supporting families, and doing a job that has genuinely become a huge part of who I am.
When I first opened my doors, I never imagined just how rewarding this journey would be. Over the three years I’ve had the privilege of caring for so many wonderful children each with their own little personalities, strengths, quirks, and ways of seeing the world. Watching them grow from curious toddlers into confident, capable little learners has been one of the greatest joys of my life.

We’ve shared endless moments together:
🌱 Muddy adventures
🎨 creative crafts and messy play
📚 stories curled up on the carpet
🌈 big milestones, small victories, and so much laughter

And through it all, I’ve learned as much from the children as they have from me. Their resilience, imagination, and kindness inspire me every single day.
To all the families who have entrusted me with your little ones! Thank you.

Your support, trust, and ongoing encouragement mean the world. Being part of your children’s early years is a privilege I’ll never take for granted.

Here’s to four years of growth, gratitude, and giggles… and to many more years of nurturing happy, confident children at Dewdrops Childminding 💚
