This week is Loneliness Awareness Week.

Dates-n-Mates aim to tackle social isolation and loneliness for adults with learning disabilities by offering a safe space to acknowledge those feelings and a wide offering of social events and opportunities for connection.

🍕✨ Pizza-Making Fun in Aberdeen! ✨🍕

This week we welcomed two new members to Dates n Mates Aberdeen...and what an exciting first day they had!

We enjoyed a VIP pizza making class at Pizza Express! We learned how to toss our own dough, and we spent some time making our masterpieces with a variety of toppings.

Some members were a bit nervous about making their own pizzas, but they decided to give it a go, and they absolutely aced it! It was a great opportunity to try something new and build new skills.

Big thank you to Caroline and Rebecca at Pizza Express Aberdeen for hosting us! We all had a lovely time.

🌧️🎉 Stonehaven Feein’ Market Fun! 🎉🌧️

Our Aberdeen members recently enjoyed a fantastic day out at the Stonehaven Feein’ Market. Even the pouring rain couldn't dampen our spirits! ☔😊

We had a great time exploring the market, cheering on the talented Highland Dancers, and enjoying the fantastic live music on the main stage. 🎶💃

A special shout-out goes to Liz, who volunteered her time and local knowledge to support the event. As a thank you for giving back to her community and helping others have a great day, Liz will receive a well-deserved Champion Point! ⭐👏

Operations Lead, Louise, attended this Aberdeen Third Sector Communications & Media Network event yesterday.

A great session organised by ACVO and Volunteer Aberdeen with presentations on branding, storytelling and marketing. It was also a fantastic opportunity to meet and chat with other charity professionals in the area... a couple of familiar faces and some new contacts for us.

Our Aberdeen members enjoyed a catch-up over coffee and cake at Costa Coffee, sharing ideas and suggestions for future events. After that, we headed to the cinema with our Director, Katrina, for an afternoon of fun and friendship.

At Dates-n-Mates, we're all about creating opportunities for people to connect, build friendships and enjoy great experiences together.

We host weekly events for adults with learning disabilities across Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire.

⭐Volunteer with Dates-n-Mates Aberdeen ⭐

We are looking for more volunteers to help run our social events, workshops and activities for Dates-n-Mates members.

The main role available is Event Assistant/Event Host, however we would also love support with photography, fundraising and other areas. So please do get in contact with us to discuss opportunities that might be a good fit for you.

If you are an entertainer or local venue, we would also love to hear from you and see how we could work together to facilitate more exciting social events for people with learning disabilities across Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire.

All volunteer opportunities are flexible to fit around other responsibilities... We're a welcoming team with fun ways to get involved! Join us! ❤️

Dates-n-Mates members are rewarded points for volunteering and getting involved. As a member-led charity this is so important to us... members with lived experience are an active part of everything we do!

Each year, the member with the most points will win a trophy and 6 months free membership!

There are 7 ways to earn points:
