Students at Okehampton College are looking ahead to the future after achieving a strong set of A Level results and securing places at universities, apprenticeships and employment opportunities across the country.
The School, located on Mill Road and part of Dartmoor Multi-Academy Trust, is congratulating students as they collect the results that mark the end of their post-16 education and the beginning of the next chapter in their lives.
This year's cohort will now progress to a wide range of universities including Cambridge, Exeter, Warwick, York, Bristol and Southampton
The school has seen increases in average grade, average point score, and the number of students achieving AAB at A-Level. There were particularly strong results from students in chemistry and mathematics with 100% of students achieving A*-C in those subjects with 88% of students achieving A*-B in mathematics. 3 of the students studying the National Extended Certificate in Sport achieve distinction * grades.
These results reflect the hard work and determination shown by students throughout their studies, alongside the support of staff, families and the wider School community.
Among this year's achievements:
• Stanley Frangleton who got A*s in mathematics, further mathematics and biology and secure a place at Bristol University to study mathematics and computer science.
• Andromeda Walker who achieved A*, A, A in geography, biology history and a B in her EPQ project and secured a place at Cambridge University to study geography
• George Francis-Maingot who achieved an A* in art and design.
Katilin Walter achieved 3 A*s in her level 3 diploma in childcare and education. She will now study at Marjon to become a primary teacher.
Collecting his A Level results today, Stanley Frangleton, said:
‘I’m shocked and excited about my results. I’m going to Bristol University now to study mathematics and computer science. I hope to use this go become a software developer in the future.’
