Hi everyone,

Yesterday was incredibly hot, and with temperatures reaching around 34°C, we’ve made the decision to take a pause today.

At our home education alternative provision, health, wellbeing, and safety always come first, so we want everyone to use today as a chance to rest, stay cool, and stay well-hydrated.

Please take things slowly over the next few days, and we’ll look forward to welcoming you all back next week when the weather is a bit more manageable.

Creativity doesn’t stop with our young people.

The Craft Barn is opening the final place on its new Adult Beginners Sewing Course, starting next week.

If you’ve always wanted to learn to sew in a small, supportive setting, this could be the perfect opportunity. 🧵

Have you always wanted to learn to sew but never known where to start?

We’re opening the final place on our new 5-week Adult Beginners Sewing Course.

Led by a professional seamstress, this semi-private course is limited to just two learners, allowing plenty of individual guidance and support as you build confidence using sewing machines, fabrics and essential sewing techniques.

Your course fee includes:

✂️ All materials and resources
✂️ Sewing machine use
✂️ Access to an overlocker
✂️ Fashion mannequin use
✂️ First refreshment included each week

We’re excited to welcome you to our beautiful rural barn setting for a growing programme of creative workshops.

From clay and keepsakes to sewing, creative writing, photography and more, we’re creating opportunities for children, teens and adults to learn new skills, explore their creativity and enjoy time away from the everyday.

Children’s and teen workshops are available to book now, with adult evening workshops coming soon.

As we head into the half term holiday, we just wanted to say a huge thank you to all of our students, families, staff and supporters for such a lovely half term 💛

Over the past few weeks we’ve seen:
🌱 confidence grow
📚 new skills develop
🪴 exciting projects begin
✨ friendships strengthen

From fire safety workshops to greenhouse building; literacy, mathematics, and science sessions to creative projects, we are so proud of everything our students have achieved.

Thank you for trusting us to be part of your children’s journeys.

We hope all of our families have a wonderful half term break and get to enjoy some of this beautiful sunshine ☀️

A little glimpse into last week’s textiles evening at Lighter Learning 🧵

Fabric, sewing machines, baskets of materials, half-finished ideas, learning as we go… honestly one of our favourite evenings so far 👏

We’re slowly building a calm, creative space where young people can try new things, learn practical skills and create without pressure.

And we’re very excited about where this is heading!
