Mrs Cameron and Mrs Maidment were honoured to attend this very special ceremony at RAF Odiham last week. At Long Sutton we are enormously proud of our many links with our local community. Our relationship with the RAF is key as it enriches pupils’ learning through inspiring STEM opportunities, provides role models of resilience and service, and our work together enables strong support for military families within our community.

It has been wonderful to see our new intake of year R children settling in so brilliantly to our small and friendly school. We have a carefully planned transition over the summer term which means that they are familiar with the school, staff and each other before they make that big step in September.

If you know someone who has a child starting school in September 2027, please let them know about our open events:

4th November - Open Evening 6-7pm

Chicane is made up of Tom, Rory, Giulio, Hugo, Jonny and Juliet, friends from Robert Mays School, united by a shared love of music spanning the decades. Originally The Cheesegraters, the band was formed when Tom, Rory and Giulio entered the Long Sutton School talent show aged 10. (note from editor: I was there at that very first gig!!) Since those early days the band has expanded to include singers Hugo and Juliet, and bass player Jonny. They have performed at numerous local events including Bands In The Bury and Off The Hook Fest. The band is delighted to be able to support Ukraine with their music.

We were honoured to be invited to the Licensing of The Reverend Yvette Dixon. Yvette will be working in the communities of Long Sutton and South Warnborough. We can't wait to invite her into school and to get to know her. Apparently she used to be a teacher and loves sport, so we know she'll fit right in here at Long Sutton.

🐻 If you go down to the woods today, you're sure of a big surprise! 🐻
Under the shade of our trees our prospective Year 6 children, met their Year R buddies at a wonderful teddy bear's picnic.
These incredible biscuits were made by one of our new Year R mums! 🐻
Our new Year 6 children were a credit to the school and were so caring and welcoming to our new Year R children and their families.

Saulgrove and Benhams took collective worship outside today, exploring our value of Hope. Inspired by the story of the mustard seed, the children created beautiful “Hope Circles” using natural materials—each one representing hopes for themselves, others and the wider world. A calm and reflective time in our wonderful grounds.
