We are appealing for anyone with Fèis Latharna drum pads and sticks to return them to us for new musicians to use.

These can be returned on a Tuesday between 4-7pm in the Oban Pipe Band Hall, or on a Saturday 10am to 1pm at the church hall on Glencruitten Road.

Plus, we have a FREE accordion drop in session on Saturday 29th August 12-1pm.

Fèis Latharna's autumn term kicked off today, with classes for 8–18 year olds of every ability, from complete beginners to advanced players.

We have a small number of spaces in our fiddle, guitar, chanter, big pipes, accordion, and pipe band drumming classes, all taught by our wonderful team of fully PVG-certified tutors.

We have:
📍 Saturdays — Oban & Kilmore Church Centre, 10am–1pm (up to 26th Sep)
📍 Tuesdays — Oban Pipe Band Hall, Shore St (25th Aug to 29th Sep)

The block is £36.

If your child needs an instrument, we offer hire at £5/month for fiddle, chanter and guitar, and £15/month for clàrsach, small pipes and accordion.

An amazing opportunity for young harp players 👀

🔥 A really exciting opportunity for young harpists across Scotland 🔥

This September, DARA DUBH and Malachy Arnold Harp will be leading a special creative harp weekend in Edinburgh – exploring beats, grooves, bass lines, harp percussion, loops and contemporary arranging.

Dara and Malachy are two incredibly exciting young musicians who are really pushing the boundaries of what the harp can be. Dara brings together harp, songwriting, indie-pop and experimental sounds, while Malachy is doing amazing things combining clarsach with beats, electronics, techno and contemporary traditional music.

The weekend is all about giving young players the chance to experiment, create and discover that the harp can belong in whatever music they love – pop, electronic, folk, indie, trad, or something completely their own.

It’s also a brilliant opportunity to spend a weekend making music with other teenage harpists – something young players don't often get the chance to do.

Both lever and pedal harpists are welcome. You don’t need any experience with looping, improvisation or contemporary techniques — just bring your harp and a willingness to try something new!

Weekly Classes start this Saturday 22nd and drumming on Tuesday 25th August. Thanks to all that have registered, we will be emailing very soon with the class times so look out for those in your inbox.

The tutors are reviewing the groupings to ensure everyone is at roughly the same playing level and these groupings may change as musicians progress.

*** Remember you have to register your child even if they were attending classes before summer *** We're 'missing' about 20 musicians who had been attending but haven't registered for the new block.

We are excited to welcome new musicians to classes and instruments will be allocated on Saturday as necessary. If you are hiring an instrument, you will be asked to fill in the hire form and set up a standing order for payment.

Payment for this six week block is £36 and we can take card or cash at the first classes.

THANK YOU to those who indicated they'd like to volunteer to help share the workload. Fèis Latharna runs solely on volunteer power and the tank is currently giving amber warning lights to re-fuel, so please stop for a chat when you come in to pay the class fees and find out how you can help!
