New recruits bolster Gaelic Medium and Gaelic Learner education in Highland

Tha oidhirpean gus cothroman airson foghlam Gàidhlig a leudachadh air feadh na Gàidhealtachd air an neartachadh agus dà thidsear ùr Gàidhlig air an cur an dreuchd ann an Loch Àlainn agus Cataibh.

Tha Comhairle na Gàidhealtachd fìor thoilichte ainmeachadh gu bheil Claire Ford air tòiseachadh mar a’ chiad thidsear lan-ùine Foghlam tron Ghàidhlig (FtG) aig Bun-Sgoil Loch Àlainn, agus tha Jess NicEòghainn air dreuchd a ghabhail mar thidsear Gàidhlig do luchd-ionnsachaidh aig Àrd-Sgoil Far ann an Cataibh.

Chaidh an dà dhreuchd a chaidh a lìonadh o chionn ghoirid ainmeachadh aig coinneamh de Chomataidh Gàidhlig Chomhairle na Gàidhealtachd Diciadain (26 Lùnastal).

Efforts to expand Gaelic education opportunities throughout Highland have been boosted by the appointment of two new Gaelic teachers in Lochaline and Sutherland.

Highland Council is delighted to announce that Claire Ford has begun working as the first full-time Gaelic Medium teacher at Lochaline Primary School, while Jess McEwan has taken up the post of Gaelic teacher for learners at Farr High School in Sutherland.

The two recent appointments were highlighted at a meeting of Highland Council’s Gaelic Committee on Wednesday (26 August).

The nursery children did amazing today at their book sale and made £50! Thank you so much for all of your kind donations and support. The nursery children are going to decide collectively what they’d like to spend their money on. 😀

Lochaline Nursery will be having a children's book sale today! It will be out all day… or until the rain comes. The children will have a little stall near the park all day so come and stock up for the summer holidays. 📚 📖 📙

Lochaline pupils shone at Ardnamurchan Mod as a group and individually. For the action song the children chose the song, changed the words and came up with their own actions. Well done and thank you to all who helped.

P1-3 entered a competition to design a monster. They all created a fantastic monster. Hannah was a winner and her design is on the front cover of the book. She and 4 other winners from across the UK go into a final where one will be chosen as overall winner. Good luck to Hannah!

🌷Garden Open Day fundraiser
📆Saturday 16th May at Ardshealach Lodge.
⏱️1100 - 1400

We are looking for a couple of volunteer helpers for the day as well as any donations of raffle prizes or home baking.

Raffle prizes can either be given to a committee member or dropped into the Fèis Office at Acharacle Primary School.
