Over the last few weeks, things have been a little quieter on our social channels but behind the scenes, it’s been a very busy period here at Early Years Business Support.
We’ve been focused on supporting new nursery teams as they onboard with us, developing new operational resources, working on some exciting projects, and also taking a short family break to our favourite place, Orlando 🌴
One thing I’ve learnt running a business is that stepping away briefly can often bring the clarity and perspective needed to move forward with even greater purpose.
I’m incredibly grateful for the continued support, recommendations and conversations that continue to come our way. It’s a privilege to continue supporting nurseries across the UK with leadership, operational and business support, and to work alongside so many passionate people within the early years sector.
There are some exciting things ahead for EYBS over the coming months, and I’m looking forward to sharing more soon 🚀

From London to Hull, it’s been an incredible few weeks supporting nurseries and childminders around the UK 🌍
At Early Years Business Support, we’re proud to work alongside settings at every stage, whether it's taking their very first steps into opening a nursery, or looking to grow and strengthen an established setting.
Every day, we support passionate owners and teams to:
🔹 Turn ideas into fully operational nurseries
🔹 Build clear, structured business plans
🔹 Strengthen financial performance and understanding
🔹 Develop confident, capable teams
🔹 Create strong foundations for long-term, sustainable growth
🔹 Overcome day-to-day challenges with practical, real-world solutions
🔹 Build policies and systems that actually work in practice
🔹 Maximise space, occupancy, and revenue potential
Behind the scenes, we’ve also been working on something exciting…
Two brand-new software platforms are currently in their final testing phases, designed to support our clients even further and make running a nursery more efficient, organised, and scalable. The feedback so far has been incredible!
Alongside this, we continue to invest in our own development, staying up to date with sector guidance, refreshing training, and ensuring we bring the very best support to every setting we work with.
Everything we do is built around one simple goal:
Creating sustainable, thriving environments where children, staff, and businesses can all grow.
If you’re feeling stuck, planning your next step, or ready to grow - you don’t have to do it alone.

Children’s mental health starts early 🧠
In the early years, children’s brains are developing at an incredible rate. The relationships, routines and support around them help shape how they understand emotions, build confidence and manage challenges.
To support Children’s Mental Health Week, we’re sharing:
🔹 A practical staff guidance sheet
🔹 A clear, parent-friendly mental health guide
Both aligned with NHS and Department for Education advice.

Some headlines this week claim nurseries are adding “sneaky fees”.
We understand why parents are confused - the language around “free childcare” is misleading.
Here’s the truth:
⭐Funded hours are funded, not fully funded
⭐The funding rate does not cover the real cost of delivery
⭐Nurseries rely on optional extras and additional charges just to stay open
⭐Government data shows school-based nurseries aren’t offering the year-round, full-day care most families need
Private nurseries aren’t exploiting families. They’re keeping the system running.
If you rely on early years care - your nursery, your childminder, your local provider, please know: They are doing everything they can to deliver quality under impossible constraints.
Early Years Voice is fighting for clarity, fairness, and transparency so parents get the truth and providers get the support they desperately need.

It’s Children’s Mental Health Week 💙
In the early years, mental wellbeing is built through everyday moments – play, routines, relationships and feeling understood.
This week is a great opportunity to reflect on how we support children’s emotional wellbeing, both at nursery and at home.
We’ve created free, downloadable guides for:
🔹 Early years staff
🔹 Parents and families
These were in January's newsletter but you can still get your copy, just drop us a message.
