We are an 'Outstanding' 11-16 school with academy status situated in the market town of Oakham, Rutland.

We are based in a state of the art new building educating students from Rutland, Melton and the wider Leicestershire area. This is a forum used by students, parents and alumni of the College to improve communication. It is not an appropriate forum for argument, criticism, self promotion or advertising a business. After a successful year for our sports teams, we are looking forward to the new academic year. Term 1 sees our netball and football teams competing against local secondary schools, and we wish them every success.

Recently, our Year 9 and 10 students successfully completed their Bronze and Silver Duke of Edinburgh’s Award expeditions.
Throughout the DofE programme they gained essential skills and attributes for work and life such as resilience, problem-solving, teamwork, communication, and drive, enhancing CVs, university, and job applications.
Building self-esteem and friendships were considered by our students to be some of the main benefits of participating in the programme.
To find out more about the DofE programme at Catmose College, please join us at our Open Evening on Wednesday 30 September from 5.00 until 7.30pm. Meet with our students and staff, enjoy tours of our outstanding facilities and get a flavour of life as a student at Catmose College and our unique educational offer.
Our Principal, Stuart Williams, will also be giving a presentation during the evening which we hope you will come to. There is no need to book.

The French exchange was an amazing experience, not only did I build a completely new friendship with my partner, and some of her friends, but I strengthened friendships I already had by the shared experience. It was so interesting seeing how someone my age in another country lived- it’s so different. It was also incredibly character building and required me to find confidence and peace in being independent and making a place for myself, especially with the language barrier. Talking of the language barrier, I developed my french hugely in the sense that not only did I expand my vocabulary, but I learnt to tune in, structure in a more casual way, and keep up in conversation; the french talk very fast. Finally, I really enjoyed the experiences and trips we went on, such as Par Astérix, Paris (the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, museums), and obviously Harry Potter world on the home leg.

Our Year 11 students are celebrating an impressive set of GCSE results, reflecting their hard work, determination and resilience.
70% achieved Grade 4 or above in both English and Mathematics, while 50% achieved Grade 5 or above in both subjects. A fantastic 70% also achieved five or more Grade 4+ grades, including English and Mathematics.

We are also celebrating many outstanding individual performances, with students achieving impressive collections of Grade 7-9 results.

A huge congratulations to all of our students. We are incredibly proud of everything they have achieved and wish them every success as they take their next steps.

Huge congratulations to our talented Art students for their incredible achievements in this year’s Rotary Art Competition!
Charlie achieved an outstanding 2nd place in both the Local and District competitions, while Naomi also secured 2nd place at both Local and District level. Robin took 1st place in the Intermediate Local competition, and Lilyana and Chloe were both recognised with a Highly Commended award.
We are incredibly proud of all of your creativity, hard work and success. Well done to everyone involved.

After four weeks of auditions, we are delighted to announce the cast for our production of Much Ado About Nothing.
The standard of auditions was exceptionally high, making the final decisions incredibly difficult. Year 12 Harington students Anna, Ailee and Eliza helped to organise and run the final auditions, supporting the casting process.
We are incredibly excited to see the creativity, talent, commitment and energy that each member of the cast will bring to this fantastic production. Well done to everyone who auditioned, and a huge congratulations to our cast!

Our Year 8 students had a fantastic day at Burton Lazars Farm, exploring the many careers available in agriculture and the food industry.
From fieldwork and animal husbandry to meeting sheep and cattle and getting up close to farm machinery, students discovered the skills and people behind modern farming.
The day ended with a challenge to identify all the careers involved in producing a simple BLT sandwich, from farmers and vets to food scientists, transport teams and retailers.
A brilliant day of hands-on learning that inspired students to think about the many careers that help put food on our tables.

Congratulations to all our Year 7 students who took part in the Catmose Spelling Bee. A huge well done to our winners: joint first place went to Cameron and Sebastian, second place to Jacob, and third place to Phoenix. 👏
Meanwhile, our Year 9 and 10 Modern Foreign Languages scholars hosted a fantastic MFL Spelling Bee for our Year 7 students, creating an afternoon full of enthusiasm, learning and friendly competition. They also shared why they love studying languages, inspiring our younger linguists to embrace new opportunities and discover where learning languages could take them.
Both activities celebrated confidence, determination and a love of languages, and it was wonderful to see so many students getting involved. Well done to everyone who participated!

We are delighted to celebrate Seb’s outstanding basketball achievements at the European Youth Basketball League (Summer League) in Budapest, representing Nottingham Athletic.
The team secured two wins from four games, with Seb earning the tournament’s MVP award. An exceptional performance also saw him ranked 11th out of 1,088 players and No. 1 for both offensive and defensive rebounds.
Congratulations, Seb – we’re incredibly proud of your hard work and success, and we look forward to seeing what comes next!
