Our Year 7 students had a fantastic time on our annual Art trip to Burghley House. They took part in a wire sculpture workshop, creating their own dragonfly, explored one of England’s finest Elizabethan houses, and discovered the stunning gardens filled with fascinating sculptures.
Students particularly enjoyed learning about the history of the house and William Cecil, creating their wire dragonflies, and uncovering the hidden meanings behind historical portraits. As one student said, “The trip was really fun and a great way to socialise!”

What an unbelievable day at the Varsity Athletics competition for our Year 7–10 students! This has been one of the most successful Varsity events we have ever had, with incredible effort, determination, and team spirit shown by every student throughout the day. We are so proud of the performances and attitudes displayed from start to finish. A huge congratulations to all who took part and represented the school so brilliantly. Our results were outstanding across the board: Year 7 girls – 1st 🥇, Year 7 boys – 2nd 🥈, Year 8–9 girls – 2nd 🥈, Year 8–9 boys – 1st 🥇, KS4 girls – 1st 🥇, and KS4 boys – 2nd 🥈. Forty of our students recently enjoyed an inspiring visit to the National Museum of Computing. During a fascinating guided tour, students explored the story of British computing history, from the groundbreaking cryptography research at to the remarkable Colossus computer, which helped decipher the German Lorenz cipher during the Second World War. Students also discovered the origins of commercial computing and computing education through the iconic BBC Micro, with everyone having the opportunity to write and run their own programs in BASIC. The museum team were incredibly knowledgeable and accommodating, and even treated us to a live demonstration of the working Colossus machine. A memorable and educational experience for all—we look forward to returning with more students in the future!

Recently students in Year 7 visited Lincoln for a trip through medieval history visiting the castle and cathedral. They spent the morning in the cathedral with a tour of the building and had to find the carving of the famous Lincoln Imp. They also performed a play focused on King John and the Magna Carta as Lincoln has one of four remaining copies of the Magna Carta. During the afternoon students visited the castle, built by William the Conqueror in 1068. They walked around the castle walls learning about the many sieges of Lincoln during medieval times. Lincoln Castle is unusual in its design as it features two mottes, and is one of only two castles in the country to do so. The highlight of the trip was seeing the Magna Carta in its special display area.

This week the DofE are celebrating Volunteers’ Week.
Social value certificates recognise the fantastic work that our students do for their communities. The certificate also shows a monetary value to students’ efforts towards the Volunteering section of their DofE. The statistics revealed that our students clocked up a huge 1559 hours of volunteering as part of their DofE this year, with an estimated total value of £12072.
We know volunteering changes lives, that is why it is such a vital part of our DofE programme. It’s more than our students just giving their time; it’s about discovering passions, building confidence, and gaining skills that last a lifetime.

A huge thank you to everyone who supported our Wear It Blue non-uniform day last term in aid of Royal Brompton & Harefield Hospitals Charity and Charlie's Promise.
Together we raised an incredible £1550! This fantastic total will be split equally between the two charities, helping to support the amazing work they do.
Thank you to our students, families and staff for your generosity and support.

Congratulations to our students who took part in the Leicestershire and Rutland County Disability Athletics Competition. All students engaged brilliantly in every event they competed in and showed fantastic determination throughout the day. Esme achieved U16 gold medals in the 100m, 200m and long jump, as well as a U16 bronze medal in shot put. Jerome qualified for the 100m final and earned bronze medals in both the 200m and long jump. Alfie reached the 100m final and finished in 8th place. This was a tremendous effort from everyone, especially while competing in challenging wind and rain conditions. We are incredibly proud of all of our athletes.
