Here's a few things I have learnt since becoming a instructor... ๐ซถ๐ป
1. Confidence comes with practice. As a Pilates instructor, you don't have to know everything or feel confident from day one. Every class you teach, every client you support and every movement you learn helps you to grow. Remember confidence isn't something you need to have before you begin anything.
2. Every body moves differently. It's so important as a Pilates instructor to remember that there is no one-size-fits-all approach. Every body has its own strengths, limitations, history and way it moves. As an instructor it isn't your role to make everyone move the same but to help each person understand, connect with, and feel confident in their own body.
3. Connection matters more than perfection. It's easy to focus on getting every movement exactly right, but Pilates is about so much more than perfect form. It's about connecting with your body, your breath and the movement. It's about feeling present, listening to what your body needs and building awareness with each and every exercise. There is no 'perfect' body or practice, just the opportunity to connect, learn and grow.
