Today we set off on a wonderful trip to Burton Lazars Farm, where the lovely Tess welcomed us and gave us a tour of her working farm.
Our morning was filled with hands on experiences and lots of excitement. We met adorable, new born lambs, and helped make them cosy by replenishing their bedding. We were then shown some wool and how it is spun on a wheel to make thread.
Our adventure continued with a trip to see the cows and calves, offering them some breakfast.
Tess introduced us to some farming equipment and taught us about wheat, oats, and barley.
Next we visited the chickens and carefully collected eggs.
To finish our morning, we took a peaceful walk through the fields, gathering natural treasures to create our own keepsakes.
A huge thank you to Tess for making us feel so welcome and sharing her knowledge with us. Another thank you to Nesbit Bros. for the use of the bus. 🐏🐄🐓🚜🌾

Each year we try to organise a trip to Gates Garden Centre for our school leavers. Unfortunately, this time, we could not seem to work out a suitable date during the week. With this in mind, staff decided it was only fair to volunteer their time to take the children on a Saturday.
The children set off from preschool, through a number of fields, climbing over several stiles, passing lots of lovely farm animals along the way. Once we had arrived, we thought it was only fair to stop at the cafe for hot chocolate and cake. Together, we then walked around the shop, selecting plants for our wonderful preschool garden. The children used their senses to explore the plants, discussing their favourite colours and aromas.
When we purchased our plants, it was time for the walk back, trekking through the fields, following our previous route. The children had an amazing sense of achievement upon our return. All in all, the trip was approximately 12000 steps. Good going for a group of 4 year olds, especially on a hot day!
We were so proud of the children, showing great resilience, determination, and positivity.
A great big thank you to Gates for accommodating us, and for the kindness of the general public as they greeted our children.
What a fabulous morning ☀️🐑🪴

We are loving having fun in the sun. We have been busy exploring the natural world around us, enjoying the sights and smells of spring. The children were fascinated by something shimmering on the water’s surface. On closer inspection, we found several frogs’ skins floating in the water. This took us on a wonderful journey of discovery as we learned about ‘ecdysis’.

We have been having a great time in the snow. We used a tray to go sledging down the hills, dug with spades, threw rocks into the icy lake, and obviously threw the odd snowball.

Thank you to the wonderful Nesbit Bros Ltd for donating the use of their bus and very special driver to take us to the Tree Festival at St Mary’s Church. We all loved our trip out. It was great seeing the amazing trees. Obviously a favourite was our friend’s tree created by Little Robins Preschool. Well done to those that participated.

We are often asked by parents about childminders in the local area. It would be useful to get some recommendations, or if you are a childminder, pop on your info.
Many thanks
