What a show. 🎸

Over three days, students from Forms 3-7 turned Chapel into a rock stadium for this year's House Singing competition, fully embracing the theme of Download Festival.

The competition featured ensemble performances and whole House choir entries. From cowboy hats to theatrical make-up and even a dinosaur costume, there was no shortage of memorable moments along the way.

Congratulations to everyone who took part, particularly Clipsham, winners of Best Boys' House, and Round House, whose spirited performance of 'I Was Made for Lovin' You' by Kiss secured both Best Girls' House and the overall title.

Thank you to former Assistant Director of Music and Housemistress of Rushebrookes, Tessa Drummond, for generously giving her time to judge the competition.

The STEM on Track 2027 season is officially underway. 🏁

After fielding three teams from Years 7 and 8 last year, the programme has expanded to four teams across Years 7-11, with an impressive 31 students involved.

The first practice session at Ancaster Leisure brought together students with a range of experience levels. Some were returning to sharpen their racecraft after the summer break, while others were experiencing the thrill of karting for the very first time.

Alongside the excitement of competition, STEM on Track offers students the opportunity to develop teamwork, communication, engineering knowledge and analytical thinking in a hands-on environment. It is a fantastic example of the breadth of opportunities available through Oakham's co-curricular programme, where learning continues well beyond the classroom.

We look forward to seeing how all four teams progress throughout the season.

20 photos can only tell part of the story.

Over the course of this half term, Oakhamians have enjoyed a packed programme of fixtures, competitions and training sessions across a wide range of sports and across all age groups. From hockey, netball, rugby, golf and sailing to many more besides, there has been no shortage of opportunities to get involved, challenge themselves and have fun.

Sport at Oakham is about far more than results. Every match, training session and competition helps students develop confidence, resilience, teamwork and leadership while challenging themselves to improve and grow.

Every athlete's journey is different.

That was one of the key messages shared at Oakham's fourth Sporting Futures evening, where more than 100 young athletes and their families came together to hear from elite performers and industry professionals.

Old Oakhamians Charlie Titcombe, now playing rugby for Leicester Tigers, and Evan Blackman, a GB and Wales international sprinter over 200m and 400m, returned to School alongside former England Roses netballer and Leeds Rhinos player Paige Reed.

Speaking openly about the resilience, hard work and determination required to succeed in sport, they encouraged students to embrace their own paths and focus on long-term development.

The evening concluded with our largest networking reception yet, bringing together UK and US universities, coaches and professionals from across the sports industry to help students and parents better understand the opportunities available.

Sporting Futures is all about supporting athlete development and giving young sportspeople and their families the knowledge, confidence and perspective to move forward.

When Evie joined Oakham in Form 1, she couldn't have known where the next seven years would take her.

Since then, she's led the CCF as Contingent Leader, represented the School in national shooting competitions, completed her Gold Duke of Edinburgh's Award expedition, balanced eventing with her studies, explored conservation and archaeology, and achieved excellent A-level results.

What stands out most, though, is her willingness to try new things, challenge herself and stay open to changing direction when new opportunities appeared.

Her advice to younger students is simple: "Try everything and find your place."

It's advice that she clearly lived by throughout her time at Oakham.

The Queen Elizabeth Theatre has been buzzing with activity this term. 🎭

Following a memorable revival of the Drama Scholars' acclaimed production of Come From Away, attention has now turned to two exciting productions in the months ahead: Mamma Mia! and our Studio Production of David Copperfield.

In this reel, Director of Drama Gilly Norell reflects on a fantastic start to the term and shares what students, parents and audiences can look forward to next.

As a special place at the heart of Oakham, QET is where friendships are built, talents are discovered and students work together to create something extraordinary.

There was magic, mystery and music filling the Chapel this week as we welcomed children from five local prep schools for our Orchestra Day. ✨

The day brought together young musicians of all abilities, from children who had only recently started learning their instrument to others working at Grade 5 level. Through improvisation and electro-acoustic composition workshops, they explored new ideas, built confidence and worked together before taking to the stage for a final concert for family and friends.

One of the joys of the day was seeing every child fully involved. Thanks to Director of Music John Mountford's specially arranged music, each performer was able to play at a level that suited them while being part of the same orchestra.

A programme featuring themes from Doctor Who, Narnia and The Addams Family, a supportive audience and more than a few slices of cake made for a wonderful day.

It was a brilliant example of how Oakham brings young people together, challenging them to discover what they can achieve.

What better way to begin an A-level Art coursework project than by stepping outside the classroom and into one of the UK's most inspiring cities? 🎨

Our Form 6 Art students recently spent two days in Cambridge, exploring the Cambridge University Botanic Garden, Kettle's Yard and The Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge. Along the way, they completed drawing challenges, photography tasks and artist-led workshops, collecting ideas and observations to inform their own creative work.

The trip encouraged students to engage actively with their surroundings, experiment with new approaches and develop independent ideas, all key elements of our academic programme.

Experiences like these help bring learning to life and support the outstanding outcomes achieved by our students. This year, 95% of this year's cohort achieved A*/A grades, 100% A*-B, and 84% straight A* grades.
