Rutland Guitar School

As we fast approach the end of the school year and head into the summer holidays, I thought I’d get in early to say how awesome my students are at the moment. I teach all ages, with kids from the age of 8, all the way up to folk in there 80s. This year alone, I’ve pushed myself into pieces of music that I’d never have learnt if it wasn’t for my students pushing me on, let alone taught the pieces. We’ve written and recorded pieces of music with kids at a school who wanted to learn about the production of music. Not to mention all the different styles of guitar that my students like to learn. So just a note to say thank you and that you guys teach me, just das much as I teach you.

This Friday will be my last Friday teaching at Brooke Hill school, where I’ve been for 5 years. Having taught over 60 kids over the years, and watched them progress into the young musicians they are now, and it has been nothing short of a pleasure. I will still be teaching privately and in the other schools I teach at.

I’m still pretty much fully booked, (which is awesome by the way), but don’t hesitate to get in touch about lessons from September as My diary fills up rather quickly.

Until then, have a great summer and I’m looking forward to seeing what the future holds with all the various things I have going on. From teaching, record shop, live music, vinyl DJing and many many other things to look forward to. Including a very special evening with a masterclass from a very well respected and well known guitarist…. But more on that soon.

Welcome to the family 🎸

Everyone say hello to the newest member of the family. Custom made 1 of 1, made with Vietnamese acacia wood and fishman pick ups. They be been after a new acoustic for a while but didn’t really know what I wanted in terms of body, wood, brand, neck, pick up etc. but this one ticks all of those boxes in this one of a kind beauty. Gigged with it over the weekend and can safely say it’s stunning. The second I strummed that first chord on the first night, I knew. Big Thanks to Wayno Kelly for sourcing it for me 🤘

Fresh New Term starts today. Hope everyone had a great Easter Half term. Mine consisted of a few public gigs, first wedding gig of the year, busy few days in the record shop, family camping trip and a trip to the seaside, watching the posh win a trophy at Wembley and most important of all…. Chilled and reset with my wife and kids.

Now ready to start the new term with all my private students and all that I teach in the various schools. Let’s gooooo 🎸🎸

Hope everyone has had a chilled and great Easter weekend. We’re now into half term with the kids off so guitar lessons will be a little more limited over the next couple of weeks. Plus it’s important to spend some time with the family while the kids are off so enjoy that time together. Keep playing music, listening to music, and just enjoying music as a whole. It really is the best medicine.

Hello One and all. It’s been a while as it’s been a very busy couple of months my end. Been on tour the last few weeks with the amazing Tomas Doncker and friends, which has been an absolute blast. Really enjoyed playing some original music in some new venues for me. I’ve had so many messages lately about lessons, which is amazing and I am slowly replying to them all so please bear with me. It’s so great that so many people want to learn the wonder that is the guitar. I am currently fully booked but that doesn’t mean I can’t shuffle a few things around so keep them messages coming in. I do have a waiting list, which as an individual and someone who works on their own, is a great place to be 🤘

In terms of current students I’m teaching, you guys are absolutely smashing it lately. Had loads of light bulb moments in recent weeks, which is always amazing to see. And not only am I teaching you but you are also teaching me. Which a lot of teachers will never say or admit but it’s the students that also teach the teacher. Whether it be new music, new songs or wanting to learn new techniques. So that’s been really refreshing. Keep doing what you’re doing.

My kids are on half term this week, as a pose to last week when everyone else was off, so I’ll be mostly off this week and chilling with them and re charging my batteries ready for a new term.
