Here's a look back at the schools of our Academy Trust's celebrations of World Environment Day 2026. 🌳🌍

🏏 We’re ready to bat for England! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

To celebrate the start of the Women’s T20 World Cup, we kicked things off in style today with a lunchtime cricket match! 🌟

Throughout this half term, all pupils will have the opportunity to get behind the England Women’s team, follow their progress in the tournament and develop their own cricket skills during PE lessons. 🏏

From batting and bowling to teamwork and sportsmanship, we’re excited to inspire our pupils through the excitement of international sport — come on England! 👏🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

🌍MDJS World Cup 2026 – Adopt a Nation!🌍

Over the coming weeks, every class and staff team at Michael Drayton Junior School will be adopting a World Cup nation as part of our exciting cultural capital project. Pupils and staff will explore languages, traditions, food, music, geography and national identity, helping them develop a deeper understanding of the diverse world around them.

You may notice that England is not one of our adopted nations. While many of us will undoubtedly be cheering on England and celebrating our rich English heritage, we wanted to use this opportunity to broaden pupils’ horizons by exploring cultures and countries beyond those they experience every day.

Alongside our cultural learning, pupils will also have the opportunity to take part in our House World Cup lunchtime football competitions over the next five weeks.
We are looking forward to a fantastic celebration of learning, diversity and sport across our school community.

Sports betting has become increasingly visible online, appearing across apps, websites, social media, sports coverage and gaming spaces.

Even when young people are not legally old enough to gamble, they may still encounter betting messages through adverts, influencers, tipsters, friends or adult accounts.

Our latest guide highlights key risks, including:
• Easy online access
• Gambling becoming normalised around sport
• Peer and influencer pressure
• Free bet offers
• Impulsive spending and chasing losses

It also offers practical advice for parents, carers and educators on starting calm conversations, setting safer digital boundaries, spotting warning signs and finding support.
