With September fast approaching, here is a reminder of our school uniform expectations:
Our updated uniform policy was shared with all existing families in May via email and was also shared with each of our new families at our parents’ meeting in July. The policy is also available to view on our school website for reference.
It is of the utmost importance that ALL pupils adhere to our school uniform policy, and we thank parents in advance for supporting their children in meeting these expectations.
Pupils arriving at school in the incorrect uniform will be expected to change. Similarly, pupils arriving with hairstyles, jewellery or make-up that do not meet our school expectations will be required to rectify this. Whilst some pupils may have been experimenting with hair colour and nail colour/extensions over the holiday period, all must be removed ready for 2nd September, in line with our uniform policy.
Pupils will not be sanctioned for wearing the incorrect uniform. However, failure to follow an instruction from a member of staff to change their uniform or rectify their appearance will be considered a failure to follow a staff instruction and will therefore be treated as a breach of the school’s Behaviour Policy.
We appreciate your support in ensuring that all pupils arrive at school appropriately dressed for their age, ready to learn and able to meet our school expectations.
For pupils with sensory requirements, the expectation remains that our school uniform policy is followed. Please refer to the policy for further information about the available sensory-friendly uniform options and where these can be purchased.
Earrings and Piercings
For pupils who have had their ears pierced over the summer, or who are joining us with recently pierced ears, we ask that the summer period is used to develop their independence in removing and replacing their earrings without adult support. Existing pupils who have previously required their earrings to be covered should also use this time to develop this independence.
Following updated Health & Safety guidance, the school will no longer provide tape for covering earrings. Pupils whose ears have been pierced within the previous six weeks will need to provide their own suitable coverage. Once the six-week period has passed, pupils will be expected to remove their earrings independently for school.
Parents should be aware that covering newly pierced ears with tape or another form of coverage does not remove the risk of injury to the ear. This should be carefully considered when deciding to have a child’s ears pierced during term time, as pupils continue to participate in normal school activities, including PE, playtimes and other physical activities.
Only one small, plain stud earring is permitted in each ear. No other piercings are permitted at school.
Health and Safety is of the greatest importance, and we thank parents for supporting us in ensuring that pupils are able to meet these expectations safely and independently.
