What an amazing week we've had celebrating our Birthday. It has been wonderful to see children so engaged in learning, working collaboratively with our library partners onsite and welcoming so many visitors yesterday who came to wish us well. Our Birthday teddy bears who went home with the children are so well loved.
We are looking forward now to making more happy memories that we will share at our 85th Birthday celebrations!
We were very proud to share our wonderful Nursery School with Mayor Tromans and Councillor Mandy Tromans yesterday.
Today’s the day!
We are busy getting ready for our birthday parties to celebrate 80 years of our wonderful Nursery School.
Who would have thought in 1942 that St. Paul’s Wartime Nursery would still be such an important part of the community 80 years later!
Please do come in and see us during the day - we have moments from our history on display and would love to hear your memories!
We are excited to welcome the Mayor who will be coming to wish us Happy Birthday and also have a tour of our Nursery School : )
We have been listening to music from the 1940's in Big and Little Nursery, and Big Nursery have been looking at some toys that children might have played with 80 years ago. The Jack-in-a-box is a favourite!
Did you know....
Stockingford Nursery School started off as St. Paul's Wartime Nursery in 1942. It was put in place to provide childcare for mothers who were working in the munitions factories....

Establishing a good bedtime routine is integral to a good night’s sleep. A good routine should be consistent and calm. It helps if things happen in the same order at roughly the same time each day. Parents/carers of young children can watch our virtual healthy sleep workshop which provides guidance on establishing a sleep routine.

Warwickshire has water everywhere from the water features in Jephson Gardens in Leamington Spa, to the paddling pools available in Coventry's Splash 'n' Play at War Memorial Park and Pingles Leisure Centre in Nuneaton.

Canals and rivers run throughout Warwickshire.
There are also five different reservoirs in Warwickshire, Draycote Water, Oldbury, Packington Lakes, Shustoke and Wormleighton Reservoir.

Many Warwickshire Country Parks also have water, such as Kingsbury Water Park in North Warwickshire.

Family Learning are currently running ‘50 Things to do in Warwickshire’ workshops for you to attend together with your Nursery child. Practical sessions for you and your child start next Thursday morning at 9.00am. Remember the story
Of Billy Goats Gruff?
The troll under the bridge,
And all that stuff.
If you liked that old story
There’s fun to be had
Playing pooh-sticks and paddling…
Who said learning was bad?

Hopefully, somewhere, not too far away from you there is a bridge over water. This might be a stream, or perhaps a river, but somewhere accessible that you could go and explore with your child. These activities offer lots of opportunities for children of all ages to experience being outdoors (our varied weather will make each occasion different).

They can explore lots of significant elements, learning about aspects such as crossing over the top of water, how it feels to be up high over the water whilst it moves below them, what is going on below and what might live there (perhaps a troll, or a shiny slippery fish). Lots of different ideas for play and lots of opportunities for learning.

Our Story

A Local Authority Maintained Nursery School

A very warm welcome to our Nursery School! There has been a Nursery School onsite in Stockingford since the 1940's, and many of our parents (and grandparents!) have fond memories of their own time here. We are a maintained school and are led by a Headteacher, with qualified teachers and practitioners supporting and extending learning.

We pride ourselves on offering a welcoming, safe and stimulating environment, with high quality teaching and learning experiences for children aged 2-4 years old. We recognise that children's foundations for learning are embedded in their early years experiences and we work in close partnership with home to support learning and development together.

You are very welcome to come and look round our Nursery School - please telephone or come to Reception to make an appointment. We look forward to meeting you!
