We recently celebrated Supported Internship Day!
The day highlighted the incredible work of the interns, showcasing the positive impact supported internships have on young people with learning disabilities.
Our interns had stalls set up at their places of work, to help spread awareness of the impact that the supported internship scheme has on their lives and the companies they work for.
A huge thank you to all the interns, employers, and mentors who make these opportunities possible! 🌟

Our Learning Resource Centre recently hosted a Egg-cellent coffee morning! ☕️ 🥚
With free tea, coffee, and cakes - the event was created to help with donations for our College Easter Gift Bags.
Similar to the Christmas Hampers we create each year, these gift bags are full of goodies for students who may need them. 🎀
Shoutout to our amazing Painting and Decorating students at Wigston Campus! 👏🎨
They’ve just completed a fantastic project at Menphys, a local charity providing specialist services to children and young adults.
Our learners gave a fresh new look to a classroom that will be used to teach young adults essential life skills.
Great work, team! Your hard work is making a real difference in the community! 💙
HND Alumni Nico, recently came to speak to our Interior Design Students at our Hinckley Campus.
Nico is currently studying his Level 6 at Coventry University. Our students were lucky enough to take a look at his final major project that he is currently working on. ✍🏻🏠
Our Level 3 and HND Photography students recently took a trip to the incredible FORMAT International Photography Festival in Derby!
Some of our students work was selected for the Young FORMAT open call and is currently being exhibited at the prestigious QUAD Gallery! 🙌
The students were also lucky enough to get an introduction from Jodi Kwok, the curator of FORMAT25 👏
Such an inspiring experience for our budding photographers! 🎞️📷
Meet Mollie!
"After I completed the HND in Fine Art, I decided to top up to a full degree on the BA (Hons) Creative Practice course. The course has introduced me to a multitude of new mediums, techniques, artists, and exhibitions that I haven’t had the opportunity to access before, which has really helped me, and my art, grow into something I am extremely proud of."
Considering studying a creative Higher Education course, just like Mollie?

Today is National Supported Internship Day!
The aim of today is to raise awareness of the huge impact that a supported internship can have, not only on the life of the interns who take part, but on wider society too.
Here at NWSLC, we are very proud of our Supported Internship programme and would like to spend today celebrating our interns and employers involved in our programme!
Our programme which has doubled in size in the last year, has 27 interns on placement across a range of employers including:
George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust
Asda Nuneaton
Tesco Wigston
Nuneaton Signs
Mira Technology Institute
NWSLC
In the coming year we will have over 60 placements with our current and new employers and are excited about the opportunities that will be available to interns across our region.
If you want to be part of the next phase of our supported internship journey, please contact Paula Jeffries. paula.jeffriesnwslc.ac.uk

Last week, NWSLC took part in College's Green Week. ✨
Our student centre set up a "Clothes - Swap Not Shop" event!
We want to say a big thank you - whether you donated, swapped, or just stopped by, your enthusiasm for sustainability made it a success.

Meet Sophie!
After completing a Level 3 Personal Training Course, Sophie was encouraged to pursue Higher Education.
Completing a HND at NWSLC has enabled her to progress even further and she now attends University while working part time as a Gym Instructor at The Sports and Fitness Centre at NWSLC.
"I have always had an interest in fitness and health; therefore, I wanted to develop my knowledge further in the industry, allowing better opportunities. "
