Darren works for himself and spends as much time as he can travelling ✈️🧳😎

I started to learn Spanish with Sue as a hobby initially but I enjoyed it so much I wanted to immerse myself in it. I have been trying to visit more traditional Spanish cities ie Alicante where the people still like to speak their native language. What I have learnt gave me the confidence to order food, travel around the city and fix any problems that arise. It also gave me great satisfaction to hold small talk with locals and them with me too. Sue’s teaching methods are great; interesting and relaxing and I would highly recommend.
Thankyou Sue 🇪🇸

Wendy - Happily retired!

'One of my retirement list things to do was to learn Spanish, and since last October I have had 23 1hour online lessons with Sue over the last 6 months.
I knew no Spanish at first, but enjoyed learning French at school more than 40 years ago, so hoped that might help. I am enjoying it so much it is now my favourite hour of the week. I get to use my brain and learn a useful life skill, and can already have a tentative conversation in Spanish. It’s very informal. Sue makes you feel at ease & encourages you to have a go, even if you don’t think you know something, & I’m often surprised when I do know it. I’ve learned so much already, I’m going to Spain with my family for our Summer holiday aiming to practice my skills, and I can’t wait!'

Simran, a Year 11 student.

I have studied French for over 9 years, all the way through primary and secondary school. However, despite this I never felt truly confident in being able to speak or write French in a fluent manner.
I started lessons with Sue in the beginning of year 9 and truly started to enjoy French. Not only does she help you understand how to conjugate verbs, but how to form different tenses and improve your pronunciation. This can be seen through the flashcards which I used for my speaking exam, as you can see we have broken down the words to help me pronounce them, helping me achieve a grade 8 in my speaking mock and a grade 9 in my writing! I plan on continuing to learn French with Sue after my GCSEs as not only is she a phenomenal teacher but one of the loveliest people I have ever met. Alongside this, she also teaches Spanish and German!!

Sue Millhouse - 72 years old, retired Headteacher and University Senior Teaching Fellow.

At school I had always enjoyed languages and did French, German and Latin at O level, continuing French to A level.
The one language I had always wanted to speak was Spanish (the fourth most used language in the world) but apart from the odd tourist phrase - 'Dos vinos por favor' 'Buenos dias, como esta usted?' 'Gracias' .....that was it.

On retirement I went to NW College night school for two terms but found that, in a class of about 20 adults, progress was so slow, the tutor going (understandably) at the speed of the slowest student.

I was thrilled to find Sue online and, initially, two friends and I went to her every Tuesday for an hour. It was brilliant fun and we all learnt quickly. They eventually dropped out and I continued, changing to Google Meet sessions in Covid, and continuing those today on a weekly basis.

10 years now!! and I feel confident that when I encounter a Spanish speaker I can converse easily.

Sue is a brilliant tutor, she makes the lesson fun, she challenges me with the homework, she is positive and supportive.
