After eight years of dedicated support for Nuneaton Taekwon-Do, we have said farewell to Mr Detelin Dimitrov, III Dan, following his final class with us last Thursday.
When we first set up the club, Mr Dimitrov approached us wanting to train and be part of what we were building. From that moment, he became far more than a student or instructor — he became an integral part of Nuneaton Taekwon-Do and our Taekwon-Do family. 🥋
Our students valued his disciplined approach and high standards, always underlined by kindness, patience and genuine care. Whether someone needed advice, support at a tournament, help preparing for a grading or simply encouragement in class, nothing was ever too much to ask of him.
There is also so much that happened behind the scenes. From late evenings helping us clean, prepare and look after the dojang, to travelling to competitions to coach and support our students, and contributing to the planning and day-to-day running of the club, his commitment has been extraordinary. 🙏
What many students may not know is that Mr Dimitrov is also an incredibly talented painter. Several of his paintings have a permanent home in our dojang, including the much-loved large tiger painting. 🐯 He is also a dedicated musician, playing guitar in both traditional and rock styles. 🎸
Of course, we will also miss the moments that made Mr Dimitrov uniquely Mr Dimitrov. He earned the unforgettable title of Mr La Bamba after an outstanding karaoke performance at one of our end-of-year parties. 🎤
His oversized speaker and Eurobeat playlist became regular features too — although convincing him to turn the volume down was always a discussion! 🔊 And if there was even the smallest excuse to teach a Tae Bo class, he was ready to go. 💪
Mr Dimitrov is now returning home to Sevlievo, Bulgaria. 🇧🇬 While we are incredibly pleased for him as he begins this next chapter, we are deeply saddened to see him go. He will be greatly missed by everyone at the club. 💙
We cannot thank him enough for everything he has given to Nuneaton Taekwon-Do over the past eight years. Thank you, Mr Dimitrov — the club will not be the same without you. We wish you every success, happiness and good health for the future.
