Hi Everyone, We have a rare couple of two hourly sessions becoming available.

If you need some extra support and companionship or have a loved one who needs someone to step in and be there when you can't, please feel free to contact us for a no obligation friendly chat.

Our service can be provided stand alone or many of our clients have us visiting to help fill their day between shorter personal care visits.

We are often described as an extra daughter. Each of our clients sees the same face at the same time each week so they know they have something to look forward to and they feel secure about coming. It gives them and us the opportunity to develop trusting relationships.

We do so many things including supporting our clients to rebuild confidence and feel motivated again to put some purpose back into their lives. There are so many little details involved in what we provide - for example: from checking food isn't out of date to outings, from providing friendship to doing hobbies together, from ensuring a meal is cooked to arranging and attending appointments! Plus so much more!

Our service is completely tailor made to what you need it to be. We have a mature and experienced team who are empaths, can think on their feet, use common sense and see what needs doing - they are loyal, trustworthy, friendly and kind.

Lightening the Load - Home We are passionate about helping improve people's lives, reducing loneliness, improving well-being and providing support to help others live their best quality of life possible through offering tailor made services.

Sunflowers 🌻 brought many smiles to our faces today on one of our outings with a lovely client we see twice a week! We took their little dog too so they could have a walk at the same time.

Not all of our clients are able to go on outings! However, we always tap into something they enjoy or have enjoyed and do our best to engage and motivate in a gentle way.

We also made sure we went through the calendar for the rest of the week so that our client knew they had things to look forward to and planned for the rest of the week, made something to eat for lunch, looked together for a lost item and packed a suitcase together for an upcoming family wedding!

We do so many things with our wonderful clients!

The pleasure for us is all about supporting someone else to have some purpose and meaning in a given day along with friendship, companionship, trust, chatter, laughs, reminiscence plus lots more!

❤️"It's like having an extra daughter" - this is how our service is often described!

From taking your loved one/s out for something to eat, to organising and attending medical appointments, checking around the home for out of date food and what jobs need doing, helping prepare meals and shopping, building trust, friendship and companionship, being a family's eyes and ears when they live too far away to check in on loved ones, walking a dog, doing activities or accompanying someone to a social group - you name it, we do it!

😀Nothing is too much for our fabulous team when it comes to supporting older people - we see couples, people with dementia, people with no family nearby, people who are completely alone and immobile to name just a few!

🥰We work hand in hand with personal care services too - their visits may be quick and practical! In between their visits, we provide longer visits where we can really get to know someone and support them with the things some personal care services aren't able to provide!

Our fabulous team went so way over and above in their roles this week - this is not at all unusual for them! They are incredible people!

🥰They gave so much love, time and friendship to one of our wonderful long standing clients to help them smoothly transition to living in a care home.

❤️This has included providing emotional support and reassurance, packing, labelling items, writing lists, getting last minute things together, waiting for a taxi, liaising with the care home plus lots lots more.

☺️Our visits will continue twice a week to the care home so that our client continues the friendships they have made and continuity for peace of mind and to help maintain feelings of security.

😢It's pretty scary having no family and moving alone into a care home!

Providing every bit of support in so many ways means absolutely everything! ❤️

🥰Our client felt settled and secure just a few hours after their move. 😊

☺️Find us on the Age UK Database and the Joy App. - both used by health, social care and other professionals to refer people to our service!

🥰Many of our customers have been referred to us by Social Prescribers and other health and social care professionals, voluntary and private organisations! Other older people come to us themselves or we are contacted by their families.

❤️The support our fabulous unique team give to the older people in our communities is outstanding! All of our customers say we are a lifeline for them and they look forward to our visits.

😀Let's put purpose and meaning into our older peoples' lives! Many sit alone for hours and hours. They may have a personal carer pop in and out briefly or no interaction at all in a day!

🥲Can you imagine what it feels like to sit alone for the majority of a day, day in day out? When previously you had a social life, more independence, a job, brought up a family. It's not much fun for many older people!

😀That's why Lightening the Load was set up 5 years ago. To fill that gap, brighten someone's day, to help be the eyes and ears when carers need a break, to help put something to look forward to back into someone's life.

❤️Are you someone aged 60 or over needing an extra pair of hands to help you keep your independence in your own home or do you have a relative or friend who needs that extra bit of support, some encouragement and motivation to do other things and have purpose in a day?

😊Just one day on the life of our fab team... we took one of our customers to a foot clinic last week because their family lives a long way away. We have built up a fabulous friendship. We have done so many things together from going for tea and cake, going for walks, going to the dog groomers and foot clinic, help choose new shoes, checking there is no out of date food in the fridge, helping with light household duties conversation and laughter, plus lots more. Last week we had a lovely chat about the photographs in the house and reminisced about the family and grandchildren. ❤️

Our fabulous team do all kinds of things often going over and above!
