Fin Heesom becoming WAKO WORLD CHAMPION 2023 in -74kg Men's LC Kickboxing. Making history by becoming the first Team GB male to ever win the Men's -74kg section and the fourth male to ever win this title in LC from Great Britain.

Fin won all fights unanimously (3-0) and performed with dominance in both flare and scorability, irrespective of sustaining a severe injury to his coccyx 5 weeks out of the competition, seeing Fin only able to have 2 days of training prior to the championships and seeing Fin have to adapt in fighting style due to the restriction to his renowned kicking flare and style.

Last week, we saw Fin Heesom travel to the largest stage of our sport, the WAKO Senior World Championships 2023 🌎 to represent Team GB 🇬🇧. With Fin facing a major injury, only 5 weeks out of the championships, we tailored a specific recovery plan to allow Fin to be able to fight in time.

Fin competed in -74kg Men's LC kickboxing, the largest men's LC division at the championships, with 24 athletes competing from 24 different nations 🌏.

Beginning the championships in the round of 16, against South Africa 🇿🇦, Fin began in style, taking a 3rd round KO.

Progressing through to the quarter-finals against Ireland 🇮🇪, with Fin ending the fight with a back kick TKO in the 2nd round. Unfortunately, due to very unique circumstances, Fin had to re-fight the quarter-final, ensuring that the 2nd fight was done with even more flare and expression, seeing Fin progress through with a unanimous 3-0 decision.

Having his second fight on the same day, Fin faced Hungary 🇭🇺 in the semi-final, again securing his second unanimous 3-0 decision of the day.

With the final against the World number 3 seed, from Austria 🇦🇹, Fin had one of his best performances of the championships, securing a decisive 3-0 victory, with Fin becoming🏆WAKO WORLD CHAMPION 2023🏆.

Not only World Champion, Fin became a history maker 📖, becoming 1 of only 4 GB men to EVER win a WAKO Senior LC World Title 🌎. With 3 of the 4 being Tek and Team Blue Blood's own, F.Heesom (2023), W.Taylor (2021), and D.Chapman (2011). With Fin becoming the first GB male 🇬🇧 to ever win -74kg Men's LC, regarded for years as one of the most prestigious LC titles to win.

With only 2 other Team GB athletes winning WAKO Senior Men's LC Kickboxing WORLD TITLES 🌎 previously, and a decade passed since the last. With a serious injury 10 weeks prior to the championships, Will focused on learning to adapt and adjust throughout becoming victorious against Poland 🇵🇱, Ukraine 🇺🇦, Italy 🇮🇹 and Russia 🇷🇺 and being crowned 👑 WAKO WORLD CHAMPION '21 🏆 and cementing his name in history.

Going into the largest competition within the UK, with over 1700 competitors from 18 countries 🌍 entered. Starting day one, with Fin stepping onto the mats and showcasing the months of training in style. Bringing the flare 🔥 to the mats, Fin showed adaptability and versatility in skill, becoming 🏆 BRISTOL OPEN CHAMPION '23🏆. Followed by Hollie competing against Team GB 🇬🇧 Athletes and international competitors, Hollie showed her most mature and composed performances to date, with great progression 📈, through clear, decisive victories, Hollie became 🏆DOUBLE BRISTOL OPEN CHAMPION '23🏆.

The day continued with Linda, Tek's International Athlete Initiative guest 🌎, stepping into advanced ladies light contact, Linda showed enjoyment and understanding on the mats, losing out to World and Euorpean champion and taking a well deserved 🥉 medal.

Day two and continuing with point fighting, with our Tek Royals also stepping on the mats this weekend, and we couldn't be prouder of the progress shown across the board 🥰. Seeing them collect a total of 4 medals and all showing immense development 📈. With all medalling 🎖in their relevant fighting divisions, showing not just good skill 🥊, but great sportsmanship attitude on and off the tatami.

Finishing the weekend at 8pm Sunday evening, with David showing in 2 of the most competitive male point fighting divisions with over 20 competitors in each division fighting across 2 pools. With David showing brilliant understanding and growth, missing out on medals in both but taking close defeats in the quarter finals after fighting competitors from Italy 🇮🇹, USA 🇺🇸, GB 🇬🇧 and Greece 🇬🇷.

The focus 👀 and work 🥊 continues as we prepare for the Senior World Championships 🏆.

This weekend, Tek Coaches Will Taylor and Fin Heesom travelled to Holland 🇳🇱 to coach an exclusive seminar organised by . With participants from both ITF Taekwondo and kickboxing travelling from England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿, Belgium 🇧🇪, Holland 🇳🇱, Ukraine 🇺🇦 and Germany 🇩🇪 to access 6 hours of seminar hours.

This was a bespoke seminar experience as part of Tek's International Athlete Initiative, to cover specific areas including:
• Sport specific footwork 👣
• Advanced sparring combinations
• Kicking strength & application
• Anchor ⚓️ leg mobility & stability
• Sport specific strength & conditioning
• A Champion's mindset 🏆🧠
