Ahoy, Families! Pop-Up Pirate is taking over our Inventors Room! 🏴‍☠️

​We’ve had so much fun today, using the classic game 'Pop-Up Pirate' to help our little ones build important social and emotional skills. While it looks like simple, giggly fun, it’s actually a fantastic learning tool!

​Here is how Pop-Up Pirate helps our toddlers learn and grow:

​Practicing Patience & Turn-Taking: Waiting can be tough for little learners! Because each turn only takes a few seconds, children get quick practice waiting for their turn without losing interest.

​Building Language & Communication: Passing the colorful swords gives children a natural opportunity to practice key phrases like, "My turn please," "Your turn," and "Thank you!"

​Managing Big Emotions: The sudden POP brings so many giggles! It helps toddlers experience gentle, surprising outcomes in a safe, fun environment where everyone "wins" a good laugh.

🧁👩‍🍳 Weekly Baking at Little Lambs! 🐑

Our weekly baking sessions at Little Lambs are always a highlight of the week! 💕 There’s something so special about watching the children take pride in creating something with their own hands.

From measuring and mixing to learning about portion sizes, baking provides so many opportunities for learning while having lots of fun! 🥣✨

Each week, we alternate between delicious sweet and savoury snacks, giving the children a chance to explore different ingredients, flavours and textures. And the best part? They get to take their creations home to enjoy with their families! 🏡❤️

We love seeing their proud little faces as they show off something they have made themselves. 🌟

🎨🌊 Arts & Crafts at the Seaside! 🐚☀️

Arts and crafts are such a wonderful way for children to explore, create and express their imaginations. 💭✨

Our theme this week was ‘At the Seaside’, which was especially exciting as lots of our children had been to the seaside or were getting ready to go away on holiday! 🏖️

As we got creative, we shared our own experiences, talked about the things we had seen and enjoyed at the seaside, and used our imaginations to create our very own seaside pictures. 🎨🌈

A lovely opportunity to develop creativity, language, confidence and communication while celebrating the children’s own experiences. 💙

✨ Sensory Exploration Under the Sea 🌊🐠

Sensory play offers so many wonderful opportunities for our little ones to explore, experiment and discover through their senses.

For our under 2s, we created an under-the-sea sensory experience using gelatine and blue food colouring. 💙 The wobbly, squishy texture encouraged the children to touch, squeeze, poke and explore, while developing curiosity and engaging their senses through hands-on play.

It’s amazing how simple ingredients can create such an exciting learning experience! 🐚🫧🌊

🌟 Listening, Attention & Communication 🌟

Listening and attention activities are so important for our 2–3-year-olds, helping them build the foundations they need for the next steps in their communication and language development. 🗣️👂

Story sacks are a fantastic way to support this! 📚✨ They encourage children to listen, join in, explore props and characters, learn new vocabulary and share their ideas.

Most importantly, story sacks make story time fun, interactive and inclusive, giving everyone the opportunity to get involved, build confidence and develop their communication skills through play. ❤️

🎪✨ Circus Week was a blast! ✨🎪

What an exciting week we’ve had exploring the wonderful world of the circus! 🤡🎪

We enjoyed a special visit to see the clown, took part in lots of fun circus games, and got creative with circus-themed activities. The children loved dressing up in colourful clown wigs and using their imaginations to become circus performers!

We also enjoyed some delicious ‘popcorn’ while sitting back and watching performances that our friends had put on for us. 🍿👏

It has been a fantastic week full of laughter, creativity, imagination, confidence and togetherness. The children have had so much fun learning through play and sharing these special experiences with their friends. ❤️🎪

🫧 Bubble fun in the garden! 🫧

Today we enjoyed making bubbles using trays of bubble mixture and a variety of bubble wands. The children worked together, sharing ideas and exploring how the different wands created bubbles in different ways.

This simple activity encouraged the children to develop teamwork, patience, hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills, while learning through hands-on exploration.

We talked about how bubbles are made and discovered that making the perfect bubble takes time, care and precision. The children showed great perseverance as they experimented, tried different techniques and celebrated their success! 🌈🫧

A lovely example of how playful, child-led experiences can support learning, curiosity and problem-solving. 💛
