Seeing a talker's face improves understanding of speech in noise.

Why then, is this not factored in when treating hearing problems?
We are trying to fix that.

If you are a young adult hearing-aid user or have a diagnosed hearing loss, we need your help.

We can also tell you how good your lip-reading is - which might help you manage challenges you face with your hearing.

Are you aged 60 or above and living in Nottingham?
We are inviting volunteers with normal hearing to take part in a research study at Nottingham Trent University about how people understand speech in noisy situations.

What’s involved?
✅ Data collection at NTU lab (with brain activity recording)
✅ Fun learning activities (Music, Mandarin, or Chess) from home over 8 weeks
✅ Flexible scheduling – we’ll work around your availability
✅ A £60 thank-you gift for your time
