Year 6 SATs are done — and children absolutely deserve a break. ☀️

But Summer 2 can be busy - full of transition days, productions, trips and exciting end-of-primary events, which sometimes means key maths skills aren’t used as often.

🤨If your child has just finished SATs, you might be thinking: “The last thing they need is more maths!”

🫶🏼I understand — which is exactly why these sessions aren’t about extra work.

These small-group ‘Ready for Year 7 Maths’ Sessions are designed to:

✔ revisit key Year 6 skills
✔ prevent confidence dips over Summer 2
✔ prepare for common Year 7 expectations
✔ make the move to secondary feel less daunting

💪🏼Think of it as a confidence boost before September. No pressure. No SATs. Just keeping skills ticking over and building confidence for September.

📍Online - Zoom
📅 Wednesdays from 3rd June
✏️ Suitable for current Year 6 pupils moving into Year 7

Some amazing feedback from Year 6s that I’ve been working with…

I’ll miss some of them who won’t be carrying on with me but they’ve been amazing to work with.

Now I have some spaces available for new pupils so get in touch if you’re interested in some extra support.

🥳🥳 SATs week is OVER!!

🏆 Congratulations to all year 6s across the country who have made it to the end of SATs week!

It felt very strange not to be with a lot of the children I’ve worked hard with over the last year as they went into these tests. I was thinking of them all throughout and daily reports have me bursting with pride!

🥰 I will never get over the feeling as these children absolutely smash their way through the tests! It is so rewarding, satisfying and exciting to see that all the hard work has paid off and they are ready. Ready to move on to secondary. Ready to tackle bigger challenges. Ready to take on more and understand that they can do anything they put their minds to. 🌟

Times tables can really hold children back as they move up to year 6.

If you’d like extra support for your child to help them master times tables check out my small group. Through games, songs and rhymes well make sure your child is much more confident with their tables and open up so much more of the maths curriculum for them.

Spaces are already getting booked so get in touch quickly to secure your child a place or find out more.

🧐SATs Maths revision: maths facts that are worth going over with your child as they will appear certainly come up on the SATs papers.

📣 Shoutout to one of the schools I work with for letting me share their beautiful working wall!

SATs QotD: reasoning with prime numbers

TOP TOP: Always encourage your child to put their knowledge down on the page to help reduce mental load - yes, even if they’re very confident mathematicians! It helps to reduce/eliminate the “silly mistakes”.

SATs QOtD: finding a percentage of an amount.

There are likely to be several of these kinds of questions on the arithmetic paper, varying in difficulty. This is one of the more easy questions; next week I’ll share a harder example using the same method.

SATs QotD (for yesterday!): reasoning with units of measure

Always a tricky one! Remember an explanation doesn’t have to involve a full written paragraph.
