Dr. Stephen Hoare Tuition A level Chemistry & Biology tuition from an A level examiner and textbook author who knows the importance of understanding and good exam technique.

I have several years of succesful tutoring students for GCSE and A level Chemistry and Biology. I am an A level examiner involved in setting and marking papers for A level and level 3 vocational qualifications. I am also an author of the textbook for Cambridge Technical Level 3: Laboratory Skills as well as a number of GCSE Biology workbooks. Chemistry and Biology are fascinating subjects of great

importance in the modern world - and not just to get a place on a good university course. But making the transition from GCSE to A level is not easy and falling behind in the early weeks can have long term consequences. Also, many students struggle to communicate their knowledge in a way that earns them credit in exams - they need help with their exam technique. With a first degree in Biochemistry and a Doctorate in Peptide Chemistry followed by over 30 years working in the life science industry I can offer a wealth of experience that helps students with a real-life perspective of their subject. My work as an examiner gives me and intimate knowledge of the exam system together with an understanding of what is needed for success as well as the pitfalls that await the unwary.

Congratulations to all my students who achieved such high A level grades last week. Getting A* or A in chemistry or biology is no mean feat so well done - you should all be proud of yourselves.
It will soon be back to school or college for students going into year 13. Now that most of my students are starting university I have plenty of spaces available. However, past experience suggests these will fill up quickly.
I am also planning some group Zoom revision classes covering 'difficult' topics as well as exam technique and revision strategies. Watch out for more details.
