Oakridge Junior School in Basingstoke wanted to enhance its support for pupils who benefit from sensory environments ๐Ÿค—โœจ

Existing areas within the main building were limited and not suited to sensory use or soft play. Having previously chosen Cabins for Schools to install their forest school hut, an outdoor classroom and an infants room, they returned to us to design, manufacture and install a modular sensory room.

We completed this custom sensory room project in collaboration with our partners, Sensory Technology. The headteacher wanted to create an immersive space with soft play where children could hide, climb, rock, spin and feel fully engaged, alongside all the essential interactive sensory equipment.

A furry friend enjoying the veranda area of the outdoor education building we installed at Portland College ๐Ÿค—

This space makes outdoor education accessible throughout the whole year, and provides a great place for interacting with the donkeys which live onsite!

The large glass frontage was important, giving students and staff views of both nature and the donkeys from inside. This is what's great about bespoke design, you can create the learning space that's ideal for your educational setting.

Newhey Community Primary Schoolโ€™s eco-friendly learning hut ๐ŸŒฟ

Spaces like this give schools a flexible extra environment that can be adapted around changing pupil and curriculum needs throughout the year.

Whether used for outdoor learning, reading groups, horticulture activities, forest school sessions or smaller support-based sessions, learning huts create valuable additional space in a natural setting.

Designed to feel warm, welcoming and separate from the main building, theyโ€™re becoming an increasingly popular way for schools to expand learning opportunities beyond the traditional classroom.

New space completed for St Giles' CE Primary School in Walsall ๐Ÿ‘

This 8m x 4m classroom has completely changed this area of the school already. The Knotwood cladding works so well in a school setting too - it gives the look of timber without the maintenance that comes with it.

More schools are looking for ways to create extra teaching and support space without major building works, and projects like this show how effective modular classrooms can be. ๐Ÿ˜€
