Building heritage projects that last means more than preserving artefacts—it means preserving stories through community collaboration.

When communities are actively involved, heritage projects become living, breathing reflections of shared history and identity. This approach not only ensures sustainability but also empowers people to see themselves in the narratives told.

Collaboration fosters trust, enriches content, and bridges cultural divides—key ingredients for projects that resonate and endure.

Let's work together to create heritage that honours diverse voices and builds a future grounded in inclusive stories.

Diverse heritage is the foundation of truly inclusive communities.

When we recognise and celebrate the rich histories of African and multicultural UK experiences, we create spaces where everyone feels seen, valued, and connected.

Inclusive heritage isn't just about telling untold stories—it's about shaping communities that welcome equality and foster belonging for all backgrounds.

At Norma Gregory Consulting, we help heritage organisations, educators, and groups bridge the gaps in representation, ensuring diverse histories are preserved, shared, and honoured.

Because when heritage reflects us all, communities thrive together.

How is your organisation welcoming diverse heritage today?

Writing a founder's history is more than just listing dates and milestones—it's about weaving a story that honours the path, struggles, and triumphs that shaped the organisation's identity.

Begin by exploring the founder's background: their heritage, motivations, and the cultural or social gaps they sought to address. Highlight moments where their vision aligned with wider community needs, especially in representing diverse histories.

Use clear, inclusive language to connect readers with the founder's passion for preserving multicultural heritage. Share the challenges faced and how these were overcome, demonstrating resilience and commitment to equality and inclusion.

A well-crafted founder's story not only inspires pride but also builds trust and connection with your audience—bringing heritage to life through personal experience.

How has your founder's story shaped your organisation's mission? Share your reflections below.

Norma Gregory, Honorary Doctor of Letters (DLitt) recipient for Services to Heritage, Education & Media Arts from the University of Nottingham, my home town university, on the 15th December 2023, where I studied in 2009-2010 as a PGCE student (English teacher training, post-grad) and have since used aspects of this knowledge and experience in my professional practice now as an EDI heritage consultant and educator, leading change to help transform museums, heritage sites across the world and broadcast heritage media production, to become more inclusive, multicultural and diverse learning spaces.

I will continue to lead positive change through heritage, education and the arts, to inspire others on their life journeys towards a more inclusive, equitable society we can and must contribute to, in some way.

Thank you to all those whom I have had the pleasure of working with / liaising with in some way, of my 30+ years of work output/study/impact. I share this award with you. Surreal...
