Globalisation is a key concept in A-level Sociology, and students are often expected to apply it across different topics, including education.
This video shows how the same knowledge can be used in different contexts, helping students build stronger, more flexible exam answers.

Globalisation is one of those Sociology topics that many students struggle to get to grips with.
Having a simple way to break it down makes it much easier to understand, and, importantly, to apply in exam answers.

Many students spend hours revising Sociology, but don’t always see their marks improve.
The difference is usually in how they revise. Focus on active methods and practising exam skills rather than just reading or rewriting notes.
Social policy is a core topic in A-level Sociology and often features in both shorter and extended exam questions on families.
A common challenge for students is knowing how to use the same content differently for 10-mark and 20-mark questions — particularly when questions focus on the impact of social policy on specific aspects of family life, such as family structure or gender roles.
This video explains how students can apply social policy knowledge effectively across different question types and build clear, focused answers.
A summary slide is included to support revision and exam preparation.
A common issue in A-level Sociology exams is students writing accurate, well-revised answers that don’t fully address what the question is asking.
Examiners reward answers that stay tightly focused on the wording of the question and clearly explain the relationship being asked about.
When this focus slips, marks are often capped - even when subject knowledge is strong.
This video explains a simple exam technique that helps students apply their knowledge more effectively in exam answers.

After mock exams, many students respond by revising more content - rewriting notes, making flashcards, or re-reading topics.
While this feels productive, it doesn’t always lead to improved exam performance.
In A-level Sociology, marks are often lost through exam technique: structure, application to the question, and evaluation. This video explains why changing how students answer questions is usually more effective than simply revising more.
This is a key focus of the support I offer to Year 13 students preparing for their summer exams.
Mock exams can feel daunting for Year 13 students, especially when results don’t reflect the effort they’ve put in.
In Sociology, a mock grade isn’t a judgement or a prediction of final outcomes, it’s feedback.
Used properly, it highlights where exam skills, structure, or application need refining before the summer exams.
This is exactly how I encourage students to think about mocks when preparing for AQA A-level Sociology.
As the summer exams get closer, I’m seeing more Year 13 students feeling unsure about how to turn their Sociology knowledge into strong exam answers.
I’m an experienced AQA A-level Sociology teacher and offer 1:1 online tutoring focused on exam technique, essay structure, and confidence across all papers.
I have a limited number of tutoring spaces available. If you’d like to know more, please feel free to get in touch.
