For young people in residential care, everyday moments can sometimes feel unpredictable.

Creating familiar patterns around mornings, mealtimes, school preparation and evenings can help reduce uncertainty and give young people a greater sense of what to expect.

A familiar breakfast.
A clear plan for the morning.
Knowing what happens after school.
Time to wind down before bed.

Returning to routine after the holidays can bring a whole mix of emotions like excitement, worry, tiredness or uncertainty. 💛

A fresh start doesn’t mean forgetting what’s happened before. It means giving children the time, patience and support they need to adjust to what comes next.

Small steps, familiar routines and plenty of connection can make the transition back feel a little easier.

💬 What helps your child settle back into routine after the holidays?
