Carrying on from my last post; here is an exercise for bringing greater awareness to the body. The exercise is very calming but will also give you greater freedom to 'flow' when you play or sing. For all musicians regardless of whether you have focal dystonia or not.

This arrived yesterday.
"Focal dystonia affects a muscle or muscle groups in a specific part of the body. It causes undesired and involuntary muscular contraction, hyperextension or twisting and can affect many parts of the body."
It is caused by an over or underactive nervous system which has its roots in how we have been affected, mainly by our lived experiences, amongst other things. I have had issues with my embouchure for years which have only recently been addressed. I'm in the process of rehabilitation at the moment. This book is a great find and should be immensely useful for myself and my students.
