If you are managing arthritis, staying active matters.
The challenge is finding something that supports your joints rather than putting more pressure on them
Healthline highlights Nordic walking as a low-impact way to keep moving while easing the load through the body.

With the right technique, the poles help distribute the effort more evenly, so you are not relying solely on your hips, knees, and ankles. Movement becomes more supported, posture improves, and walking feels more stable and controlled.
It gives you a way to stay active without the impact that often leads to setbacks.
That is where proper instruction comes in.
At British Nordic Walking, every step is taught using the INWA 10 Step Methodβ’, so you move well, safely, and with purpose from the start.
If you want to keep moving without putting your joints under pressure, this is where it begins.

Itβs not all about work.
We spent 4 fabulous days at dancing & singing to music, including The Specials, Fidget & the Twitchers, Jess Silk, Ferocious Dog, Black Water County and, my personal favourites, Utah Saints djing in the dance tent.

π³οΈβπ Today is International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia (IDAHOBIT)
Founded in 2004, IDAHOBIT aims to raise awareness of the violence and discrimination faced by LGBTQ+ people around the world - and to drive positive, lasting change. Itβs now marked in more than 130 countries.
π This day is a powerful reminder that there is still a long way to go until all LGBTQ+ people are truly safe, free from harm, and able to live openly and authentically.
Here in Nottingham, we stand proudly with our LGBTQ+ communities. Discrimination in any form has no place in our city.
Nottingham is - and always will be - a city for all.

Summer foraging events with Lucy
Summer Events Schedule π
Here it is gang! My summer public walks & talks. I may be able to squeeze an extra one or two in but this is what I have planned.
For the Broxtowe Country Park walk, River Leen Walk and Mushroom Growing walk there are limited spaces and it's Β£20pp (get in touch if this is out of your budget .. I'm flexible!) You can use 2026 gift vouchers for any of these too!
Please get in touch to book - first come, first served! My hope is to add some more mushrooms growing sessions to my autumn schedule depending on supplies.
I'll be adding these to the events section on Facebook over the next day or two with lots more details. But if you wanna get in first - drop me a message or email [email protected]
The other events are donation based / free and there will be lots more details about those to come too!

I had a great walk today with my poles & Bridgette HG. The swifts are back over
One simple change. Big difference.
Walk with Nordic Walking poles and you:
β’ Use up to 90 percent of your muscles
β’ Reduce strain on joints
β’ Improve posture and technique
β’ Burn more energy than regular walking
Small shift. Real impact.

I love this.
I was running through the Uni grounds this morning and saw a baby rabbit near the path. I quietly pointed it out to a student near me (who was looking on her phone) and she was delighted to see it.
My mantra - Eyes up, notice and connect with others.
After 20 years of practicing medicine, I am convinced that nature is underused as a clinical intervention. We send people to the gym. We rarely send them to the woods.
You do not need a national park. A neighborhood greenway, a botanical garden, a tree-lined street, even a window with a view of trees can offer some of the benefit. Twenty minutes is enough to register a measurable shift. Phone away. Slow steps. Notice five trees.
The forest does not require an appointment.
Where is the closest patch of green you could visit this weekend?
