The stark warnings about the impact of anthropogenic on CO2 on climate change make a strong and urgent case for a significant change in our use and generation of energy. The increasing world demand for energy creates a significant challenge for both science and society. This talk will look at the energy challenge, deployment and technology challenges, the research needs and progress, as well as the needs of education to meet these essential goals.
