Not forget E’s kind big brother who joined us for some days during the holidays! I know where E got his love of dinosaurs and all things living from. It was always a fun time when you came to play if it was an adventure day out or a day in playing.

So many lovely memories playing with Z and the little one! We’ll miss having you over in the holidays, Z was sad to learn it was your last ever day but you had the wonderful idea of ‘childminder play dates’. We are looking forward to those!

You were the first child on my books as I took this leap into the unknown so I can’t believe you won’t be coming to my house each morning! On your first visit you spent most of the time trying to climb into the book shelf but you soon settled to be part of the family.

Crazy about dinosaurs and sharks! You have a calm demeanour you are quick to make people laugh with a silly sense of humour once you are familiar. With your amazing logical skills I’m sure you will go far!

You will be missed of course but again this is not goodbye and play dates are already being planned by your big brother! 🦕🩵🦈

What a pleasure it was to look after you for some of your precious early years. You absolutely love nature and could play outside cot hours! With your keen mind, kind nature and strong sense of right and wrong you will go far in life I know.

Some little snippets of our time together growing from baby to toddler along side my wild child. So many lovely memories, it has definitely made me feel emotional that you along with your friends are ready for the next chapter in your life.

But it is not good bye because there will be play dates! 🌿💙🌳

This week we have been having fun with some new resources in the garden. The sand tray being a big hit as they always enjoy sand play, mixing it with water and getting messy. The easel is lovely, we can’t wait to create more with it.

Yesterday we did a bit of gardening, harvesting potatoes to learn how they grow and about root systems. The cress seeds were sowed so that will be fun to watch the cress grow over the next few weeks.

The children really enjoyed the outdoor space after the heat wave being so restrictive! Recently I have noticed their independent play and problem solving skills develop along side team work, this open plan space gave them the freedom to practice all these skills further.

Some little critter updates from Free Spirits Childminding 🦔 🍃

🐸 In the corner of our garden, we have a little pond. It is the reason we had this big fence built, so we can preserve a little nature reserve while keeping the garden safe for all. I am glad we went through that effort because we recently discovered that we have a little tenant in the pond. For a while, I have been hearing her plop into the water when I peer over but recently she has been chilling in the water. We plan to tidy up that corner and make it accessible for the children to have an observe in a highly supervised way.

🐈 secondly, nearly a week ago our 12 year-old Cat Chibi decided to go on hiatus in the middle of the heat wave, causing us so much worry. This morning she came home, a little hungry and out of sorts but looking well. We are all so happy to have her back. The mindees and I had the lovely job of going round to take down the posters and share the good news with our neighbours that we met along the way, who all shared the joy of the news.

An early morning trip to the woods to seek solitude from the sun under the canopy of the trees. We spotted fungus, did mud painting and spent a lot of time running from t-Rex’s. On the way home we made a friend who was also escaping the suns rays. Home by 10.30 before the temperatures hiked up!

Keeping cool today by hammering wild flowers out of ice. We also had lots of lollies, a cold dinner and lots of time indoors with the curtains closed and fan on! Even the pigs got some cooling treatment, they loved the ice packs in their shed.

We recently upgraded our play space by replacing the plastic roof of the conservatory and putting in new vinyl flooring, scroll across to see the ‘before’. The end result is amazing! It’s really changed the space, the room is now warmer in cold weather and doesn’t heat up excessively on hot days. Plus it’s absolutely beautiful and feels like such an inviting play space for the children. It has been such an upheaval getting the work done and I’m so grateful to my families for their ongoing patience 🌸🌿🐚🦔
