Did you know that children have more tastebuds than adults? ๐Ÿญ

Yes, it's true! Children are born with approximately 10,000 taste buds, while adults typically have around 5,000. These taste buds are the tiny sensory organs on our tongues responsible for detecting different flavours like sweet, salty, sour, and bitter.

As we age, some of these taste buds naturally fade away, which is why children can be more sensitive to strong or bitter flavours. This is also one of the reasons why kids can be picky eaters. They might find certain tastes overwhelming that adults don't even notice.

So, the next time a child says their food is too spicy or bitter, it might be because their super taste buds are doing their job extra well! ๐Ÿ˜„

The children all had lots of fun on Halloween, they explored the pumpkins and what was inside. As well as finding the seeds and exploring them, the children have carved and decorated a pumpkin with their parents for our pumpkin patch. Some of the children came to nursery dressed up too.
The children also enjoyed a spooky eyeball spaghetti bolognese followed by witches brew jelly and then a party tea.

This playdough not only smells delightful but also provides a wonderful sensory experience for children. Enjoy your pumpkin spice-scented playdough playtime! ๐ŸŽƒ๐Ÿ‚๐Ÿ

Ingredients:

2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup salt
2 tablespoons cream of tartar
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 cup water
2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice
Orange food colouring (optional)
Small pumpkin-shaped or Halloween-themed cookie cutters (optional)

Instructions:

Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium-sized saucepan, whisk together the flour, salt, and cream of tartar.

Add Wet Ingredients: Add the vegetable oil, water, pumpkin pie spice, and a few drops of orange food colouring (if desired) to the dry ingredients. Stir until the mixture is well combined.

Cook Over Low Heat: Cook the mixture over low heat, stirring constantly. It will start out very sticky and gradually thicken. Continue to stir until the mixture forms a ball and pulls away from the sides of the saucepan. This usually takes about 3-5 minutes.

Cool and Knead: Remove the saucepan from the heat and allow the playdough to cool slightly. Once it's cool enough to handle, knead it on a clean surface until it becomes smooth and pliable.

Play: Your pumpkin spice playdough is ready to be used for creative play! You can use small pumpkin-shaped or Halloween-themed cookie cutters to make fun shapes. Store any unused playdough in an airtight container to keep it fresh.
