The DTH are proud to have been involved with the excellent Curating, Researching, Digitising and Exhibiting (CRDE) placement in 2024-25.
students curated and researched objects from , then learned how to digitise (including 3D capture) them here in the DTH before the objects were uploaded to the amazing Villiers Revealed virtual exhibition.

๐ท In this photo, Chinny, one of our Hennessy Project volunteers, is setting up a camera on a copystand in the DTH studio.
For the Hennessy Project, students digitise 1960s copies of the Cuban newspaper, Granma. These papers are just one of many sources on Cuba held in the Hennessy Collection at the Centre for Research on Cuba (University of Nottingham).
Each year, University of Nottingham Arts students apply to volunteer on a DTH project. After volunteers receive training for specialist equipment, they dedicate two hours weekly to work collaboratively with fellow students, Arts & Humanities Departments, and partner organisations.
Look out for upcoming content about DTH projects!
๐ Pop-in to A24, Humanities Building between 10-5, Monday to Friday.
OR
๐ง Email us if you have any queries about equipment.

Flashback Friday ๐ท
Before the start of their placements in October 2024, all our DTH volunteers attended a training session on Object Handling. We were hosted by Clare, the keeper of the UoN Archaeology Museum on University Park Campus.
Volunteers learnt how to carefully handle fragile objects using the following tips:
โ
๏ธ always wear gloves!
โ
๏ธ pick up items with both hands over a sturdy surface!
โ
๏ธ don't panic when bits fall off the delicate objects during work on projects!
๐ท Picture 1 description: A perfume bottle.
๐ท Picture 2 description: A hair pin (above); an ear cleaner (below).
If you know more info about these items in the pictures, tell us in the comments!
Stay tuned for more content on our DTH projects.
Have you visited the UoN Museum yet?
