It is with very great sadness that I have to let you know that Sherrill Wexler (Maron) has passed away after a short illness. I am sure you will all join me in sending our heartfelt condolences to her husband Mannie and the rest of the family. As most of you will be aware, Sherrill was the person who bought the Spanish Dance Society to the UK and who organised the annual Summer School at Dance Attic in London every year. She was fun, vibrant and very caring and the most wonderful teacher I have ever known. I have lost a true friend and we have all lost someone who did so much for Spanish Dance in the UK.
Many thanks to Sue Hilton for sharing this sad news.

You don't have to be in a class to dance. In the garden, in the kitchen, in the bathroom. Get some music on and do it till you're smiling! 💃

Can you believe it's been six months since I had my op?

So, update: Had to stop the Hydrotherapy due to C-19 but had only managed to achieve one session a week rather than the three I was hoping for. Which means I'm back to walking, weather permitting, paying special attention to my gait and posture. Apparently I stick my bum and chest out like a duck if I don't concentrate; probably due to the fact that I no longer have any mobility in the lower back and sacrum! I can now make it to the village shop and back and I don't have to stand like a stork when I'm trying to cook or do anything else that requires me to be vertical. Thank goodness I don't have to stand up to p*e!

The expert tells me that the neuropathy in my leg is the cause and hopes that, by September, this will improve. Meh! Well, we did predict a year before "normal" is resumed! If there is anyone out there contemplating spinal decompression and fusion surgery I would urge you to think very hard about the impact recovery is going to have on your life and the lives of those who will have to care for you. This is not an easy fix.

On the bright side, I am now the proud owner of a Blue Badge which means I can park like a numpty wherever I like. I also have a disabled persons railcard which I hope to be able to take advantage of as soon as Sparkling Isolation is no longer a matter of life or death.

In the meantime I now have a house full of people, who either don't normally spend all day at home or don't normally live with me, creating it's own challenges for my neurosis. I am learning how to use Polymer Clay, reading A LOT (was worth the capitalisation), growing herbs from seed and, now that my theatre going wings have been clipped, spending some considerable time catching up with friends and relatives. Most of my activity on FB is now on my personal page so, if you would like to join me there, please send me a Friend Request.

One final thought for today ...

I urge you to check up on everyone who lives near you, not just the elderly and vulnerable and I hope that you all stay safe and well whilst we endure this terrible plague.

Cheers # # #
