Paris Jazz Roots has a GoFundMe to help keep the festival alive! If you can afford to, please make a donation to support 🙏 so we don’t lose this beautiful and important festival. If you’ve attended in the past 20 years you know why it’s so special, and I truly hope it continues so you can all experience it in the future too! I’ll pop the 🔗 in the comments. They’re almost half way to their goal now, let’s get them there! 🚀❤️🔥

Hi all 👋

Due to the bank holiday weekends and because it’s World Lindy Hop Day on 26 May (Frankie Manning’s Birthday) we are doing things a little differently this May…

We have two class weekends - This Sunday (10th) and Monday (11th) and next Sunday (17th) and Monday (18th) - And then our Sunday Jam will be on last Sunday of the month (31st)

Sunday classes:
• From 5:15 to 6:15, in place of our level 1 class we’ll be learning the Shim Sham (a mostly solo routine, as adapted by Frankie based on Leonard Reed’s Tap Shim Sham) - all welcome regardless of level!

• 6.30-7.30 in our level 2 class we’ll be learning the Frankie 99 choreography - this is also open to all for this month as long as you’ve got a little bit of Lindy Hop under your belt.

In Monday Jazz classes:
8.15-9.15 we’re finishing off and tidying up the Tranky Doo which we were working on in April. If you’ve not been before don’t worry come along anyway and see what you pick up - it’ll be fun 😁

Class prices per person are:
• £8 each
• £12 for two on same day.
Sunday Jam (3 hours of practice/social time)
• £8 per person

Monthly passes for May are:
- £20 for one ‘class stream’ (Shim Sham/Frankie 99/Solo Jazz) for the month (2 classes) plus Sunday Jam.
• £30 for two ‘streams’ (4 classes) and Sunday Jam
• £40 to do all ‘streams’ (6 classes) and Sunday Jam.

Hope to see you later at St Christopher’s Church Hall, Trent Road, Sneinton, Nottingham.

Love Lisa x

Join us this Sunday 21 December to round out another great year with a relaxed, friendly Christmas Tea Dance.

From 5.30pm to 9pm at our usual venue St Christopher’s Church Hall, Trent Road, Sneinton.

We’ll have a fun warm up class, lots of social dancing, and the usual shenanigans like a shim sham, a snowball and a jam circle or two and of course our fuddle table open for us all to make a food donation for us all to share to keep us going through the evening. I’ll provide tea, coffee, and squash as usual.

Dress up or down, it’s up to you. All are welcome wherever you usually dance, we’re a relaxed bunch and we’re simply here to enjoy each other’s company, the music and of course the dancing.

Pay on the door £10 per person.

As usual a share of any profits (apx £2 per person) from the evening will go to the Trussell Trust to support their sadly increasing much needed efforts to try and help everyone stay fed this winter and all year round.

If you’ve already paid for your ticket via the monthly pass then please feel free to make an additional £2 donation on the day which will go directly towards the Trussell Trust.

Whether I see you or not on Sunday I want to take this opportunity to wish you all a very Merry Christmastime and here’s to a fantastic Happy New Year!

Thank you everyone for your continued support of Nottingham Lindy Hop and all I do.

So much love to you all

Lisa xx

Our relaxed, friendly, social, practice session is back 🎉

26/07/2025

Hello everyone!

It’s time for another end of month Sunday Jam!

This is our relaxed, friendly, practice time & social dance from 5:30-8:30pm. Plus it’s also my birthday (technically it’s on Monday but near enough 😉), however this is not a fancy party. It’s just our lovely simple practica, happily coinciding with my big birthday :-)

So pop along and have a dance with me or/and pepper me and your dancing friends with questions as we spend some time together giving you the opportunity to explore and consolidate your learning from our classes (or just have a lovely natter over a cuppa and some fuddle food 😁)

It’s also open to all Lindy Hop, Charleston, Balboa, Jazz dancers who want a lovely big hall to dance in at their own pace and some fabulous dancing people to hang out with.

DJ music is playlist based at my discretion and I aim to keep a range of tempos alternating for you all while also allowing me to also relax, chat, advise, and dance with you too.

🎟️ £8 on the door (cash or card).
📍 St Christopher’s Church Hall, Trent Road, Sneinton, Nottingham.

Fuddle food share table open for us all to share some lovely food with each other if you feel like bringing a contribution.

Teas, coffees, squash and biscuits provided as always.

Hope to see lots of you there.

Thanks to everyone who made it along to us in June. It was fab.

We’re now back for a full month in July. Starting today! Yay!

3 Sundays of Lindy Hop, 2 Mondays of Jazz and 1 end of block relaxed social practice space where you can come together and consolidate your learning.

Coincidentally it’s also my birthday that weekend so hopefully you’ll all come and have a dance with me to celebrate.

Happy dancing July folks 🥰

Love Lisa xx
