Hello All šŸ‘‹šŸ½

It's been a little while since our last post on Facebook, but we're still here! 🪔

Hope & Elvis has recently changed hands from Wendy to Emma, and we're in the process of transferring the ownership of this page. It's taking a bit longer than expected, with Meta throwing all sorts of issues at us, so thank you for bearing with whilst we sort it.

Messages on this page won't be answered until the handover issue is resolved, but not to worry - in the meantime, you can follow on Instagram, email me at [email protected] or you can subscribe to monthly updates from the newsletter on our website. 🧵

Our 2026 programme has been launched, and whilst there are some courses that have sold out, there's still a lovely catalogue available to shop online. There's lots of new artists visiting us this year, as well as our continued studio Wednesdays and lots more new and exciting things to come. 🧶

I hope you will continue to follow along this new era of Hope & Elvis and I look forwards to chatting and meeting you in the studio. ā˜ŗļø

Been making a few little changes in the studio lately to add a bit of me. Thanks to for making the run of barkcloth curtains. My alter ego has loved barkcloth for years. So it’s great to finally use some of it . Started a bit of a gallery wall too .

Texture and colour! 2 of my favourite things. I’m thrilled that will be showing us her felting techniques to produce something warm and snuggly on 7th September. We’ll be layering silk ribbons, curls , threads and merino wool - can’t wait to be putting together all these lovely fibres and textures to make a scarf or shawl or wrap.

After a flurry of activity since sending a mail shot on Friday I just wanted to let you know that ā€œthe Lacemakersā€ workshop and ā€œStitchedStoriesā€ workshops each have just one spAce left! Jane workshop is a new workshop for Hope and Elvis and I invited Sabine after seeing her fabulous work at the Knitting and Stitching show in November .

As it’s a tad nippy I’ve been wearing my new Seasalt wrist warmers but look what’s just popped through the post! 2 pairs from Turtle Doves. I don’t tend to advertise other companies but I love Turtle Dove cashmere wrist warmers. They’re normally Ā£35 a pair but if you send in a cashmere jumper they can make into their gloves you get a pair sent back to you . So I’ve just received 2 pairs having sent in jumpers between Christmas and New Year . I asked for a blue and a neutral. Win win! Total cost? Ā£1 per pair plus Ā£3 postage.

New year -new ideas! May 11th is World Collage Day so I thought it might be nice to spend that weekend having a couple of days talking collage, producing papers, trying different techniques, using some of my huge stash of ephemera and generally having fun. This won’t be a tutor led workshop - more an opportunity to connect with other collage lovers and share ideas etc. Who’s interested? Details will go online soon.

Happy New Year! A couple of months ago I joined run by Jayne Emerson. I’ve yet to get very far with the prompts - the current one being ā€œJoyā€. As well as finding things which give us joy we were prompted to have a word of the year. I was given this beautiful hellebore a couple of days ago for my birthday and it’s prompted me to think of both . While it’s beauty brings joy it’s given me my word too which is -grow. This will give me the opportunity to think in terms of growing creatively, personally and horticulturally as I’ve committed to growing the flowers for my daughter’s wedding this summer. And for those who love the hellebore it’s name is shown on the label!

If you’re looking for something to do between Christmas and New Year you might enjoy the John Burlingham children’s illustrator exhibition at The Harley Gallery. I visited earlier in the week and loved the rug of the design of Borka the featherless goose. The reading chair is by Steve Handley and the poster is for the embroidered shoe workshop with coming up soon. Wishing you all a special time with hopefully space for some creativity over the festive season.

Last month at the Knitting and Stitching show I was blown away by the work of Sabine Kaner. Her story telling through textiles has a powerful resonance so it’s no surprise that I asked to to run a workshop at Hope and Elvis in 2024. I’m thrilled that Sabine has agreed to run a stitched story workshop next November! There will be limited spaces on this workshop so that Sabine can give Ʊ up t the workshop on the website-link in bio!
