Great post, hope you can all see it 😊

A common question we get asked is why learners drive differently in their driving test to their driving lessons.

There can be a few reasons, but in our experience, the top two are:

1) They change their usual habits because they worry about what the examiner will think, for example, they normally talk themselves through a manoeuvre or roundabout, but remain silent on the test because they feel silly.

2) Their instructor has become their safety blanket, who normally gives them helpful hints and tips, or lots of positive feedback and encouragement. On the test, there is nobody giving tips, so they might make mistakes and nobody telling them how well they are doing, and so doubt starts to creep in about if they are doing it right.

Both of these scenarios create feelings of doubt and uncertainty, which our brains hate, resulting in nerves and anxiety that they don't normally experience in lessons.
