We are incredibly proud of Sixth Formers Armann, Ovie, Hamza and Benedict for their commitment and compassion in supporting the service over the past few months.
YOPEY is a charity that brings young people into care homes to befriend elderly residents, many of whom are living with dementia, helping to reduce loneliness and improve wellbeing. Their work focuses on training and supporting students to build meaningful relationships with residents through regular visits, activities and conversation.
Well done to all four students for being such positive role models in our community.

A big thank you to the student leadership team and helpers who helped run a wonderful Open Mic event afterschool on Friday 27th March. It was lovely to see the talents of our sixth formers but also the supportive and positive spirit of the audience. We had the Sixth Form Rock band, followed by some duos, solos and lets not forget the wonderful introductions provided by our Head boy! A special thanks to Julian and William for helping with the tech.

On Wednesday 11th March, eighteen students were invited, along with students from 3 other Nottingham schools, to visit Peterhouse at Cambridge University. This included sessions on how to make competitive applications, question time with student ambassadors and a tour.
Students participated in taster lectures in Arts & Language, Maths & Physical Science, Biological Science & Medicine and Humanities & Social Sciences. Our sixth formers conducted themselves extremely well, participating in group discussions with subject leads and engaging really positively in the whole event. Well done to all who attended!

On Wednesday 25th February, 27 Year 12 students from the Spires Programme visited Oxford University for a first‑hand experience of life at a world‑leading institution. Students represented the academy with maturity as they spoke with a current student ambassador, took part in a taster lecture in medicine, and enjoyed a tour of the university’s facilities and surrounding area under clear, sunny skies. The visit offered a valuable insight into the academic environment, daily routines, and opportunities available at Oxford.
This trip forms part of our wider commitment to raising aspirations within the Sixth Form. We are proud of our strong record of students progressing to Oxford and Cambridge through our dedicated Oxbridge Programme, which provides tailored support and guidance for competitive university applications. We hope this experience has inspired our Year 12 students to aim high and consider applying to top universities in the future.

Yesterday, our sixth form marked Culture Day with a vibrant celebration led by students in Years 12 and 13. They created information displays, prepared traditional foods and designed activities to share the stories and traditions that shape their cultural identities. Students from across the school visited throughout lunch to enjoy food, art, dance and music, highlighting the rich cultural diversity that defines our community and the global perspectives our students bring to school life.
Donations were collected in support of the Nottingham Refugee Forum, and we will share the final amount raised once confirmed. Thank you to the parents and families who contributed food, artwork and cultural items. A huge well done to our sixth form students for creating an inclusive and inspiring event.
