Students across our eight Archway senior schools have been reading and reviewing our award shortlisted books since December last year and now the results are in. The winner of the Archway Trust Book of the Year is... Serial Chillers: The Witch in the Woods by Jennifer Killick. It was a close fought race this year but Jennifer came out on top - her second win after winning the first every ALT Book of the Year back in 2001. Thank you to all the students who took part this year and for those of you who have not read The Witch in the Woods yet - come and borrow a copy from the library and see why it was so popular!

Bluecoat Aspley will be celebrating Mental Health Awareness Week 11 - 17 May 2026.
The theme for Mental Health Awareness Week 2026 is ‘Action’. Because, while awareness is vital, real change comes when we take action too.
Together, we’ve come a long way on mental health, but we can’t risk going backwards. There’s still much we can do to prevent people becoming unwell in the first place.
Our individual actions matter, and when we come together we are even more powerful. Taking even small actions can give us feelings of hope and make us feel less.
To show our support on Thursday 14 May, students are invited to wear a green item alongside their school uniform; socks, hat, scarf, hair accessory.
Lets all get behind this and show our support and raise awareness.

Yesterday our Eco Committee completed a BioBitz around our wildflower garden and discovered lots of new biodiversity. We are incredibly proud of the hard work that the students have put into creating a calm space on our school site for nature to flourish. This was made possible through our Wilding Campuses project with SOS (Students Organising for Sustainability) and the Lottery Heritage Fund.

Two year 8 classes had the opportunity to work with incredible poets and Eco-educators: Cara Thompson, UNESCO's Nature Poet Laureate, and Jay Sandhu. They were creating poems around nature and the environment. Students combined their own experiences with nature and created beautiful written pieces.
