In Art this half term, Class 1 have been focusing on the arctic and have spent time using different mediums. We started with using clay to create polar bears, and then spent 3-4 lessons creating the Polar bear's environment - i.e. The North Pole. The children used newspaper and papier mache to create the land/icebergs, and then painted the scene (white and blue) to show how cold it was in the North Pole where the Polar bear lives. Our last task was to add clouds (using cotton wool to create a fluffy sky) and then glue our polar bears into their new homes. The children absolutely loved creating their scenes and it's contributed to a wider understanding of how our natural environments change at the poles! π»ββοΈπ§

We had a fantastic time holding our Language Day today! It was a wonderful opportunity for the children to immerse themselves in different cultures. The children thoroughly enjoyed choosing a country and coming to school dressed in non-uniform reflecting the colours of their chosen nation's flag. They also participated in many different activities including food tasting from different cuisines, playing French and Spanish games, and practising saying phrases in their chosen country's language.
Learning a language has proved to be beneficial to children as it boosts problem-solving, critical-thinking and listening skills, in addition to improving memory, concentration and the ability to multi-task. The children have had a fun and educational day πͺπΈπΉπ·π«π·

The children had a fantastic time performing our Nativity play this afternoon. The play, βThe True Meaning of Christmas', was a traditional telling of the Nativity story designed to capture the essence of this beloved season. The children looked amazing in their fabulous costumes, and they all sang beautifully. A big well done to everyone involved for such a wonderful production! It was lovely to see so many parents and grandparents enjoying the show and we hope to see everyone at our Carol Concert in Colston Bassett Church later this week on Wednesday 10th December πͺ©ππ
