Let's talk mobility 🤔
How many times have you said any of the following:
'my squats weak'
'I keep getting injured doing X'
'I just can't do X exercise'
If you've said this before or something similar, have you looked at why you're having these issues or what's causing them?
Or have you just accepted it is what it is and tried to make do?
What if I told you 5/10 minutes before each session could see a huge impact on your comfort whilst lifting and your ability to progress?
So many people neglect appropriate mobility work before their sessions and even a simple warm up, this can lead to injuries or even just poor performance.
If you want to see the best progress possible and to be training for the long haul, you definitely need to get into a regular routine for mobility 🔑

What does 'banking' calories mean?
So it's really simple, all it means is taking some calories from your daily intake for one day and adding them to another day.
For example, let's say in a day I have 2500 calories
2500 over 7 days means 17500 for my weekly intake.
I'm going out for a meal with friends on Friday, rather than ensure I meet my daily intake and maybe not be able to have the things I'd like, I'll take 300 calories from Wednesday and add them to Fridays intake.
2200 Wednesday
2800 Friday
Overall still hitting my 17500 for the week
BUT
I've enjoyed myself and been able to go out with my friends and not stress about keeping to my calories without fear of going over.
And who doesn't want the calories to have some rum?

'Ross has always made sure he is prepared and has researched every training session we have had. As a client, I really benefit from the planning he does for every session. This is based upon my ability and the development I have achieved in our training sessions. Our sessions fly by, but this is because it all flows so seamlessly and dare I say, fun. In short, Ross is a brilliant trainer.'
This client is an absolute powerhouse and a pleasure to coach, every session he brings his all and there's never a dull moment!
One of the most important things for me as a coach is the ability to fine tune and adjust a program to respond to the clients life outside the gym and for this client specifically that has ensure we are never off track.

'But my mate said X Y Z worked for them to get results'
'I bought (insert celebrity one size fits all b***y guide) and it's not working'
I can't tell you how many times I've heard these or something similar when engaging with people in the gym or online.
But this is how a lot of people view getting results in the gym and it's what causes many people to eventually drop off after not seeing any change.
If you've spoken to a trainer before (if they're any good) then they will have explained that fitness isn't one size fits all and that goes for every aspect of training.
And that's why I'm saying this now, if you want real results that will help you achieve your goals, make you feel and look better then you need to address what you should do to get on the right path to those goals. Not just buying a cookie cutter plan online.
As a coach every single setup and piece of programming I create is custom made for that individual client. This is because to ensure you achieve the best results possible I need to address your individual wants and needs so the transition into moving forwards with your goals is as seamless as possible.

How to make new habits 🤓
◾Keep it simple
When it comes to forming new habits you don't want to set yourself anything too complicated, keep them short and simple to help make it easier to stick to them.
For example 'train 3 times a week' rather than 'train every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday' will give you more wriggle room in a week when life throws a curveball your way.
It helps to have simpler goals to make sure if something doesn't go to plan that doesn't mean you have to quit.
◾Track your habits
This can be on a calender, in a diary or just via texting a friend. However you can keep yourself accountable will aid you in forming new habits.
It's a way to motivate yourself to keep up the good work!
◾Have a plan
It's all well and good wanting 'train 3 times a week' to be a new habit for yourself, but what are you going to train? Where?
Make sure there's a plan in place when you want to make new habits as it'll make it easier to stick with as time goes on!
◾Be patient
Forming new habits takes time, just like building muscle or losing fat. Don't get discouraged if you find yourself working over a longer period of time than you thought towards forming new habits.
Just keep at it! 💪

What's it all about? 🤔
My experience as a fitness trainer as well as talking about others experiences in the fitness industry shows one main factor when it comes to a client's results.
If they understand why they are doing an exercise or a specific movement, then they are more motivated to do it. 🔑
Now this doesn't mean I spend 20 minutes explaining all the ins and outs of a squat before we get started (mainly because everyone would get bored) but informing someone why a certain movement is specific towards their goals so they share an understanding of what they're doing.
That's what is all about.
Educating individuals about exercise and training in simple and effective ways.
