🌙💛 Ramadan at Little Plums 💛🌙
Over the coming weeks, many Muslim families around the world will be observing Ramadan — a special and sacred month in the Islamic calendar.
As part of our commitment to celebrating diversity and helping children learn about different cultures and traditions, we would like to take this opportunity to share a little about what Ramadan means.
Ramadan is a time of reflection, gratitude, generosity and kindness. For those observing, it may involve fasting during daylight hours, spending time with family, giving to charity and focusing on personal growth. It ends with a celebration called Eid al-Fitr.
At Little Plums, we believe that learning about different faiths and traditions helps children develop empathy, respect and understanding of the world around them. Throughout the month, we may explore simple, age-appropriate discussions about Ramadan — focusing on themes such as kindness, caring for others, gratitude and community.
Even if your family does not observe Ramadan, this is a lovely opportunity for children to learn that people celebrate and practise different traditions — and that these differences are something to value and respect.
If your family is observing Ramadan and there is anything you would like us to be aware of, please do let us know. We are always happy to support and ensure children feel included and understood.
