What an exciting opportunity for brass players!
🎺🎷 Calling all young brass players! 🎷🎺
Come and join us for our FREE RBC Brass Extravaganza - in association with Conn-Selmer - on Sat 15 Feb!
🤩 Here's what you can expect... 🤩
Beginning at 10am, Paul Fisher will lead an entertaining Massed Blast session for young brass players of all standards. You don’t have to be able to read music in order to join in. There will be an informal sharing of everyone’s work in the Bradshaw Hall at 11.30am (parents are welcome to join us) before the fabulous Bones Apart trombone quartet perform at 12pm. During the morning, Ian Porthouse will also lead a masterclass for budding brass band conductors in the Recital Hall.
After lunch, children will have the opportunity to participate in ensemble sessions with RBC tutors including Helen Varley (tenor horn), Chris Robertson (euphonium) and Les Neish (tuba). The ensembles will share their work with everybody in the Bradshaw Hall at 4pm. During the afternoon, James Fountain (Principal Trumpet of the London Symphony Orchestra) will also deliver a masterclass before performing with the RBC Brass Band as part of the closing concert. This final performance will run from 4.30pm to 5.30pm.

You can have an introduction to Nicola Hands who, along with the talented Tailleferre Ensemble, will be delivering our FREE Woodwind Workshop on Sunday March 2nd ‘25 (1:30-5:00 pm). Nicola will be performing Richard Strauss’s hauntingly beautiful Oboe Concerto on Sat November 30th in Woodthorpe, Nottingham. This concerto is so lyrical and flowing it requires some circular breathing! 🤪 So DO go along and support this amazing NYO alumna - you won’t be disappointed & may fall in LOVE with the OBOE! 💖
