We had such a lovely day yesterday with our Tuesday home ed families 🥹🧡
Mud slinging, barefoot walks and ending the day with a fire-lighting challenge in the rain where we gave the children the tools they needed… then stepped back and watched the magic happen as they worked it out together, shared ideas, solved problems and encouraged each other along the way ✨🔥
Some really beautiful moments of connection between both the children and the parents too.
Heading out into the woods when it’s absolutely slinging it down isn’t always the greatest motivator - we’re human after all and even as outdoor leaders we sometimes look outside and think “absolutely not” 🫠🌧️
But today was a reminder that soggy kit, mud soaking through two layers of clothing, disheveled hair and wet socks are all worth it for moments like these 🧡

A BIG happy birthday to Louise this week 🎈🎂
I wanted to take a moment to appreciate this lady and everything she does for us. Louise is a huge part of the backbone of Urban Bushcraft - quietly keeping everything running behind the scenes, organising chaos, managing our diary, supporting clients with bookings and enquiries, and SOMEHOW keeping us all on track 😆
Honestly, I don’t know what we’d do without her.
Admin, schedules, reminders, first aid replens, fixing problems before the rest of us even realise they exist… this woman is an absolute legend 🙌
We’re incredibly lucky to have you as part of the team. Hope you’ve had the best birthday - you SO deserve it 🧡✨

Had two little apprentices with me today, helping hold down the fort at our Tuesday home Ed families session 🔥 They helped around the campfire during snack time, ushered children to and from our woodland conservation area and even helped teach some of our youngest members basic fire lighting
Great jobs girls 🙌✨

I think this might be my favourite spot in the woodland…
That moment you walk back into camp and just take it in - people settled into the space, quiet chatter, birds singing and the smoke from the fire rising up through it all 🔥
I’m not one to get soppy… but this gets me every time 🥹
A beautiful Friday spent with the students from foraging 🌿 cooking 🍳 making balms and a lot of hammock chilling 😎
Just one of those days where you can take a breath and A P P R E C I A T E it all ✨

How cute are these earth pancakes 🥹🌎🥞
Last week our Tuesday home ed crew whipped up a batch of these bad boys to celebrate Earth day 🙌
I must say, we’re very lucky to have our head chef Carmen working her magic in the woodland each week 👩🍳
We’re back to our usual timetable next week & look forward to seeing our bushcraft crew then 🧡

What a whirlwind couple of weeks it’s been 🙌
🔥 We ran our first bushcraft session with the students from .acres
🎈 Hosted a survival skills woodland birthday for a very special boy
🌿 Had the kings trust crew in making fires, boiling water, foraging and whipping up some herby teas 🫖
🐐 Chased the goats around the woods after misjudging their ability to help remove Himalayan balsam 🫠
🌸 Removed the Himalayan balsam ourselves (no thanks to the goats)
🐑 B had a go at sheep herding but again, didn’t turn out quite like we had planned
🐈 And today we’ve had our home Ed drop off session where the group made dandelion paint, built shelters, lit fires and cooked their own pasta sauce together for lunch with a guest appearance from farm cat Kevin 🧡
It’s been a WEEK 🙌 Messy, muddy and a lot going on… but we wouldn’t have it any other way ✨

PSA for all bluebell lovers 📣
Our native bluebells are actually protected under UK law - specifically the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 🌿
That means:
🚫 It’s illegal to dig them up, remove bulbs, intentionally damage or sell them
💸 You could face fines of up to £5,000 per offence
Even walking through and trampling them can cause long-term damage - once a patch is gone, it can take years (or longer) to recover.
It’s part of the reason why we have such strict rules around our basecamp about not wandering off into the boarded off areas
So when you find those incredible carpets of purple in the woodland…
✨ Stick to the paths
✨ Admire them from a distance
& leave them be
Protect the magic for years to come 💜
