This week, three of our Year 5 pupils represented our school at a debating event, competing alongside children from other schools across Rise Multi Academy Trust.

They spoke confidently, shared thoughtful ideas, and demonstrated excellent teamwork throughout the evening. We are incredibly proud of how well they represented our school and the enthusiasm they showed for debating.

Well done to all three pupils on a fantastic achievement! 👏🌟

🌿 EYFS Outdoor Area Transformation 🌿

Our EYFS outdoor area has been beautifully transformed, and the children have loved exploring all the exciting new additions! The refreshed space now provides even more opportunities for imaginative play, creativity, and outdoor learning:

🍃 The new mud café has quickly become a favourite, with children busy “cooking,” mixing, and experimenting together.
🌱 Our new garden area is thriving, giving pupils a peaceful space to plant, observe nature, and care for growing things.
🏖️ The new sandpit 'beach' has inspired everything from castles to construction sites, encouraging digging, building, and teamwork, along with its nearby water area.
🎭 The outdoor theatre has already welcomed its first performances, with children confidently storytelling, role-playing, and expressing themselves.
🛠️ New construction materials are also sparking creativity and problem-solving as children design, build, and test their ideas together.

It has been wonderful to see the children embrace the space with such joy, curiosity, and enthusiasm. We look forward to many more outdoor adventures ahead! 🌞

A huge thank you to our wonderful local businesses and school community for their generous support in helping bring this space to life:

💚Viking Challenge for raising funds for our school
💚Wickes for donating bark chippings and wooden posts
💚Bagforce 2 Ltd - Leicestershire Branch for donating compost for our garden
💚Belvoir Sawmill & Forest Products for supplying timber
💚And a special thank you to one of our parents for helping with the construction work

This afternoon, we were joined by the Rosie May Foundation, who are thrilled to be running our Summer Club from Tuesday 28th July - Friday 14th August! The children were so excited to hear about the fun and engaging activities (including uni-hoc, escape rooms, drift bikes and more!), and were even able to enjoy an ice lolly from the legendary Tuk-Tuk! ☀️🩷

Eco News 🐸
Phase 2 of the pond restoration is underway! Today, members of the Eco Council donned their wellies once again, this time venturing INTO the pond! After working on habitats for birds, insects and hedgehogs last week, their next project will involve laying a new pond liner to retain more water for the wildlife, and creating a more diverse habitat within and around the pond. This meant that the existing reeds needed carefully removing, ready to re-plant some of them in the new pond.

We could not be more proud of our Year 6 children! They have stepped into their SATs showing determination, confidence and pride. Their attitude and support of one another has just been incredible, and we are so proud of the young people here in our school - we know you will be too! To celebrate, the children were given their brand new leavers' hoodies today at the SATs party! Don't they look great?! 😁🤩

Happy Birthday, Sir David Attenborough! 🌍

We had an amazing time celebrating Sir David Attenborough’s 100th birthday, including sharing birthday cake and sending a birthday card to the man himself! To honour someone who has spent his whole life caring for our planet, we spent the day doing what he loves most—helping nature!
Our classes got busy planting wildflower seeds to help bees and butterflies, and we made beautiful nature art using leaves, petals and other natural treasures we found outside. We also created mini‑habitats around school so tiny creatures have new places to explore and call home.
One of the best parts of the day was watching our Eco Council in action! Wearing their trusty wellies, they rolled up their sleeves and cleaned out the school pond, making it a safer, happier place for wildlife. They also added a cosy new hedgehog hut, put up bird feeders, and planted special oxygenating pond plants to keep the water fresh for frogs, insects and other pond friends.
All these activities showed that, just like Sir David teaches us, even small actions can make a big difference. By planting, creating, exploring and caring for our environment, we helped make our school grounds a better place for nature - and had lots of fun doing it! 🌿💚

Our Eco Council organised a bake sale to raise money for our school grounds and global climate charities. We are thrilled to share our latest update regarding our adopted tiger from the WWF!🐯

Our school's adoption, thanks to your generosity, helps to protect tigers, their habitats and their prey, as well as supporting work with governments to protect tigers around the world.

What a brilliant day celebrating springtime and Easter! 🐰🌷

Our Easter egg hunt was a real highlight, with each class exploring every corner of the playground in search of the special golden egg! ✨

Indoors, the boiled egg character competition was full of creativity — from storybook favourites to wonderfully colourful creations. 🎨 here are just a few snaps to showcase some of the fantastic designs, and we’d like to say a big thank you to parents for your support and help in creating them.🥚

We finished the day with a lovely Easter Service, where pupils reflected on the meaning of the season through songs, readings, and moments of gratitude.

Wishing everyone a happy, peaceful, and healthy Easter! 💛
