Sensory play is such an important part of early childhood development โœจ

Activities like splashing in water trays and exploring shaving foam may look like simple messy fun, but they provide babies with valuable learning experiences that support so many areas of development.

Sensory play helps babies learn about the world through touch, sight, sound, movement, and even smell. Exploring different textures and materials encourages curiosity, problem-solving, and independent exploration while helping little ones build important brain connections ๐Ÿง

Most importantly, sensory play allows babies to learn in a fun, engaging, and hands-on way. The smiles, laughter, splashes, and messy hands are all part of the learning process โœจ

Photo's of the week!

Cooking activities provide children with valuable opportunities to learn, explore, and develop through hands-on experiences. More than simply making food, cooking supports many areas of the EYFS, including communication and language, physical development, mathematics, and personal, social, and emotional development.

Through mixing, pouring, measuring, and decorating, children strengthen their fine motor skills and coordination while building confidence and independence. Cooking also encourages children to follow instructions, take turns, work collaboratively, and develop their communication skills through conversation and discussion.

Introducing cooking experiences within the early years helps children develop an understanding of healthy eating and promotes curiosity about different foods, textures, and cultures. It also provides opportunities for children to explore counting, weighing, comparing quantities, and observing changes in materials during the cooking process.

Most importantly, cooking creates a fun, engaging, and meaningful learning experience where children can feel proud of their creations - they taste rather yummy too !! ๐Ÿ…๐Ÿซ‘๐ŸŒฝ

๐ŸŒโœˆ๏ธ Exploring Our World with Our Montessorians โœˆ๏ธ๐ŸŒ

Our Montessori children have been busy discovering the world around them! They spent time exploring the world map, learning about the different continents, and sharing their own holiday experiences with friends.

We were lucky to welcome a visiting pilot into our setting! The children were fascinated to learn about flying, ask questions, and hear all about adventures in the sky.

It was a fantastic way to spark curiosity, broaden understanding, and inspire big dreams about the world beyond our classroom ๐ŸŒŽโœจ

๐ŸŒฟ๐Ÿ”ฅ Forest School Holiday Club ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐ŸŒฟ

We had an amazing time in the woods at our Forest School Holiday Club! The children enjoyed hands-on learning, creativity, and plenty of fresh air throughout the sessions.

๐ŸŒฒ They built and created using woodwork
๐Ÿชข Practised essential knot tying skills
๐Ÿ•๏ธ Designed and constructed their own dens
๐Ÿ”ฅ Cooked tasty treats over the campfire
๐Ÿƒ Explored nature on guided woodland walks

We canโ€™t wait to do it all again for the Summer Holidays, dates to be released soon!

๐ŸŒ Happy Earth Day from Rushcliffe Montessori Day Nursery! ๐ŸŒฑ

We celebrated our beautiful planet and the little hands that will shape its future. Our children have been busy exploring nature, learning how to care for the environment, and discovering the importance of kindnessโ€”not just to each other, but to the world around us. ๐Ÿ’š

Letโ€™s continue to inspire our children to protect and cherish the world we all shareโ€”today and every day. ๐ŸŒผ

Montessori principle: caring for each other.

In a Montessori environment, children learn not only practical skills but also social responsibility. Offering a hand, waiting for a friend, and moving together through a challenge helps develop empathy, cooperation, and confidence. These everyday moments are the foundation of respectful, caring communities.
