Twenty KS2 children, accompanied by Ms Thorne and Mrs Bingham, enjoyed a fantastic day at the Nottingham Tennis Open. The children took part in two hours of tennis coaching and an hour of padel coaching, followed by lunch and the opportunity to watch a tense professional match between Japan and the USA. The coaches were full of praise for the Underwood children, commenting on both their excellent behaviour and impressive tennis ability throughout the day. A wonderful experience and a credit to our school! πΎβοΈ

Today, 8 year 2s went off site to participate in a football festival. Due to the weather, they were unable to play matches outside but instead did lots of skills games focusing on dribbling and control. They represented the school brilliantly and joined in with great enthusiasm! Well done Year 2 - it was a pleasure to take you π β½οΈ

This cricket team were an absolute pleasure to take and watch today as they attempted to reach the county finals for a second year running.
After battling not only the other teams but the weather too, Underwood emerged as deserved winners despite the final match being abandoned due to the storm. At times, they were simply unplayable, showing incredible skill, determination and teamwork throughout the day.
Their victory secures another trip to the county finals, where they now have the opportunity to go one better than last year's runners-up finish and bring home the trophy.
A fantastic achievement by a brilliant group of players. Good luck in the finals!

Today the Year 5/6 Underwood boys football team took on Larkfields Junior School in the District Cup Final after winning the league. After a very closely fought match between the top two sides in the district, Larksfields won 2-0, but Underwood certainly made it difficult for them.
Underwood have had a fantastic run to the final and can be very proud of their efforts - the way they remained resilient and positive and fought until the final whistle was admirable.

Some more beautiful watercolour artwork from Y3. This time, they all chose a real flower to try to paint in the style of Georgia OβKeefe πΌπ¨

What an amazing team this is! It was a pleasure to take these children to represent the school at the annual cross-country event - a favourite of mine (Mr Adcock). They ran their socks off and showed an incredible amount of determination throughout. Although they didnβt manage to bring home a trophy this year, they should be all extremely proud of their efforts and the way they represented the school. Well done to all the runners.
A special mention goes to Alice who earned a bronze medal in the Y5/6 race, finishing a fraction ahead of Molly. An amazing achievement π

After School Club had their 'Crazy Drive Through' theme night this week. The children took it turns to be servers or customers at the Drive Through, drove their vehicles to the food section, collected their order, fed their hungry 'children' and flung a few burgers! It's called 'crazy' for a reason! Join us for more fun activities, including another movie night, after half term - keep an eye on the newsletter for details.
