Congratulations Sam passing with a single driving fault today, on the line for a reverse bay park. A beautiful "peaceful" drive from you both the examiner and I said.
Nottingham did it's best to test you; cyclists, slow vehicles, lorry's around us, road works, blue lights!
Taking everything you learned about safety and applying it to the moment. GET-on with it, Tick-Tick & Cautious Reliance were your three main cognitive techniques.
Thank you for your legacy with "Cautious Reliance" to help future students. Every student provides something for the future, to pass it forwards and it's a great technique we developed.
For someone who assumed they would never drive, you have a few people to thank who pushed (persuaded) you to take lesson, helped you practice between lessons. For someone who assumed they would never drive, you should be so proud.
Wishing you all the best, shorter journeys to work and let me know when you've done Scafell Pike.

"Driving isn't for me, it's for others"
A line which our resident Therapist Chris Allsopp ADI hears all the time. After their pass today, they now how have methods to help their agoraphobia, anxiety and driving for the rest of their life.
In December, we received an email from someone who had ignored driving all their life, for more than 30 years. Who didn't try because it wasn't for them, to quote them "me becoming a 'driver' was about as likely as me becoming an astronaut and I gave it about the same amount of thought."
However, living in a rural setting, they really wanted to be able to drive to the shop and to their horses & donkeys each day. That's all. It took a while before they emailed, but the bravely did in December.
They started with Chris a couple of weeks later and step-by-step developed their understanding and confidence. Created a safe environment of control.
5 months of mixed therapy & driving lessons has got them from never considering being a driver, to passing their driving test first time.
They also have the ability to check-in anytime with Chris, as all ex-students do for a catch-up and check-up on how life is progressing.
Congratulations again.

Our resident Therapist and Driving instructor Chris Allsopp has shared his groundbreaking "Tick-Tick" technique with piers in this month's National Hypnotherapy Society Magazine.
After recognition with an Intelligent Instructor award for his work with SEN students, Chris has shared with the therapy community the psychological reason behind the technique which he has been researching and writting about for the last 3 years as part of his studies...

Congratulations Jake!!
Jake passed today with just 3 driving faults, first time pass - amazing job.
He had to wait a few months to start lessons, (Chris is always fully booked!) but really took to lessons well once he started.
The driving test always has "something" in it, for Jake it was a goose on the loose in the middle of the road! Expertly handled though to keep it and us safe.
Looking forward to Pass Plus next month which will help with those trips to work on country roads and to see family in Leicester.
Well done, super-proud if you.

Congratulations Sasha!
Your driving test today was simply a validation of what we already knew. That's why it was "not a thing", why it was enjoyable experience. A chance to show the person what you know and what you've achieved.
Great mind-set to shift focus to what you can control, and let your footsteps guide you forward. Great work.

Congratulations Lowrie on passing your driving test today.
1 driving fault, despite so many other drivers making it difficult with late signals, signals without actions, her least favourite manoeuvre (or at least it was before the last lesson).
Lowrie came to Chris Allsopp ADI for his Anxiety support after a bad experience with the first person who was teaching her to drive which was increasing her anxiety.
Lessons at her her pace, in the way she needed them. Structured based on her cognitive style to ensure everything she learnt became intuitive.
37 hours is less than the national average, but it's what was needed for Lowrie to be safe.
Looking forward to the Pass Plus course in a couple of months time.

Congratulations to our student who passed today with 1 Driving Fault.
Some students wish to be anonymous due to the nature of the therapy and support we offer to people with anxiety and past trauma with road/driving relevance.
Our qualified therapist Chris Allsopp spent time working with her at the pace needed, working on driving skills and our own recognition of the skills we had. Controlling the situations by controlling ourselves; working "right here, right now" with past experience and future anxiety.
Sunshine & sunglasses at the beginning, branches & twigs all over the road, rain & hail at times too. Forward Bay Park was our least favourite and that of course was the manoeuvre we got.
Wipers, lights, demisters - almost every show-me question.was used. Which is a great reminder that everything we do on lessons is for real life. Whatever is needed.
Congratulations to you, looking forward to our continuing therapy and driving work over the coming months to help support you as you progress further.

There are so many outstanding instructors across the East Midlands and nationally β those who care, go the extra mile, listen, adapt and continually develop themselves, especially those supporting students who might otherwise be overlooked.
Chris has taken this dedication even further in recent years, qualifying as a therapist and continuing training in psychotherapy and counselling to better support his clients. Itβs fantastic to see this recognised by the industry.
While the recognition is appreciated, what matters most is the impact on the students themselves β seeing them feel safe, calm and in control on the road. That shift in confidence and independence is the real achievement, and the reason this work continues to grow.
